Shimmick's Southwest Division, headquartered in Irvine, California, focuses on large public owners in Southern California, across water resources, water treatment, transportation, and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $828 million Gerald Desmond Bridge, the first cable-stayed vehicular bridge in California
**Responsibilities**
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
+ Performing assignments that require the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria's to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
+ Exercising judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
+ Preparing engineering related calculations and developing drawings and visual aids.
+ Assisting with field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials used.
+ Assisting with construction administration and documentation of deficiencies and deviations from plans.
+ Working under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
+ Researching and compiling project information for reporting, marketing, and funding requests.
+ Creating and maintaining centralized files for project records (including digital).
+ Coordinating logistics and meetings for project managers.
+ Helping in the preparation of reports, including monthly development reports.
+ Assisting with community outreach duties as needed.
+ Attending neighborhood, community, and project meetings.

**Qualifications**
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Construction Management + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
+ Prior heavy civil project experience (water/wastewater, bridge, rail/transit, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience in heavy civil construction with an understanding of construction methods, means, and materials.
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents.
+ Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
+ Effective leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to work in outdoor and high-paced field environments.

Coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues relating to the electrical discipline such as installation and testing of electrical systems, lighting systems, high voltage equipment, grounding, lightning protection, and fire detection systems.
Develop work plans, coordinate material take-offs and requisitions, perform and document inspections, report progress, and resolve conflicts in design and construction related to the installation and testing of electrical commodities.
Establish an electrical design/fieldengineering working relationship and lines of communication with the Project Engineer, including agreement on electrical engineering deliverables and overall construction application configuration management.
Responsible for quantity take-off, control, tracking, reporting, and forecasting for electrical discipline.
Coordinate with the Electrical Superintendent for field procured materials, material substitution, services and equipment including panels, motors, and switchgear.
Review material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct electrical materials.
Coordinate and monitor the interfaces for electrical data exchange to support the construction automation plan and the project controls program requirements at the jobsite.
Support the electrical construction quality program.
Coordinate with Electrical Superintendent to plan/support construction schedules.
Plan and recommend electrical procedures to be implemented by Electrical Superintendent to ensure construction operations are within requirements of engineering design and specifications.
Work with project engineering, start-up engineering and operating personnel to coordinate electrical construction activities.
Coordinate subcontract activities to ensure electrical materials, equipment and quality comply with design plans and specifications and interpret vendor design documents and installation manuals.
Implement controls over variables affecting electrical installation progress such as raceway, cable, terminations, and equipment. Also ensure engineering and procurement provide timely delivery of drawings, materials and equipment and that other corporate programs are fully utilized.
Plan and prepare electrical work packages.
Perform other duties as required by Electrical Superintendent.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Heavy Civil construction and field experience.
Ability to understand P&ID's, Control Schematics, Electrical single-line drawings, and system (I&C, Fire Alarm, HVAC Control, Security) drawings.
Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors Degree or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in heavy civil bridge construction projects.
Understanding of heavy civil construction methods, means, and materials.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
Effective leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in outdoor and high-paced field environments.

The salary range for this position is between $123,000 - $150,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.
