This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position. $19.68 to $28.44 per hour. Position is open until filled. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position. The listed examples may not include all duties found in this class): 1. Perform required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe repair, laying and backfilling, raising old manhole covers and catch basins to road level for street reconstruction. 2. Perform general heavy laboring duties in assisting skilled and semi-skilled workers to remove trees, mix and pour cement, lay asphalt, patch streets, install and repair water and sewer lines, clear culverts, drains, roads and ditches, maintain park facilities, mow grass, clear weeds and brush, rake and pack leaves and debris, etc. 3. Provide assistance with operation of jet truck, camera truck and other light and medium-sized construction and power equipment 4. Provide assistance with snow removal operations, either operating small trucks or sidewalk plows, or may serve as a wingman on plow. Attach and remove snow plows, sanders, and associated equipment from vehicles. 5. Assists in other activities to mitigate conditions caused by extreme weather conditions, and natural and man-made disasters. 6. Operate and perform maintenance on hand tools and other machinery which may include, but not be limited to, mowers, brush cutters, chainsaws, weed whackers, etc. 7. Occasionally performs traffic control functions at job sites. 8. Operate trucks and motorized equipment as necessary. 9. Maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public. 10. Available 24 hours per day to meet emergency situations as required. 11. Familiar with and executes safe work procedures associated with assigned work. 12. Performs other related duties as required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Basic knowledge of and the ability to use simple hand and power tools. Ability to perform simple and routine manual labor and perform one routine job for a prolonged period. Sufficient physical strength, conditioning and agility to perform strenuous manual labor for extended periods of time under adverse and varying weather and climatic conditions. EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent, and one year's experience in construction, road maintenance or trade work, or and equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position. Valid Operator's license required, CDL-B license with air brake and tanker endorsement preferred.

Respite is a closed referral service that must be authorized by the area office. These activities should be part of a support plan approved by DDS and they should assist the client in gaining resiliency, independency, and developing social skills. The candidate should be able to provide assistance and expertise in a variety of areas. It is anticipated there be a relationship built between the staff, client, and the family in order to be responsive to family stressors as they arise and provide quality service to the client. Program Management: Responsible for maintaining program quality. This includes, but is not limited to: participating in staff orientation and training, client performance and monitoring, and ensuring adherence to the service plan and family needs. The Respite Worker is also responsible for maintaining accurate documentation of their interaction with clients and family members. The visit should be documented on the Respite Service Report Sheet. CENTRO Respite Services' purpose is to provide the primary caretaker with an opportunity to attend to his or her own personal needs or take a break from the routine care and supervision of his or her family member affected by developmental disabilities. A respite worker will come into the consumer's home for a specified time. The respite worker can engage the DDS member in activities within the home, take them on a social or recreational outing, accompany them to a meeting or appointment, or simply stay with the consumer while the primary caretaker leaves the home.
