Joy House is seeking a full-time Childcare Worker to encourage learning through developmentally appropriate play and hands-on experiences in a nurturing environment. This position cares for children 0-4 years old that are temporarily living in Joy House. We strive to develop a relationship with the parent and child to build trust and offer encouragement and guidance. Our goal is to build a parent's confidence and enhance a child's self-esteem through appropriate expectations, the development of new skills, and experiencing the love of Christ through the care provided by and relationships developed with our staff. Work Schedule: Full-time, 1st shift, Monday-Friday Location: Central Campus, 830 N 19th Street, Milwaukee, WI. 53233 RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan and implement lesson plans Instruct preschool-aged children in activities designed to promote intellectual and creative growth Create a clean fun and safe learning environment Develop schedules and routines to ensure adequate physical activity, rest and playtime (including field trips, walks and outside playtime with other children) Communicate with parents on child's growth and progress Document child's progress and interaction with parent in case notes Maintain the health and safety of all students Available to care for children of all ages throughout the day to assist parents due to Case Worker and Program meetings and instruction Available to assist with child care during family crisis Assist with Learning Lab, hospitality duties, and seasonal decorations and bulletin boards Perform first aid and/or life saving measures if necessary QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years of age Minimum of 1 year experience as a childcare worker with education in early childhood development required Experience in crisis nursery work preferred First Aid, CPR and AED certification preferred. Responsibilities: • Ensure that all safety devices are functioning properly • Ensure that the proper packaging supplies (bag rolls/cartons/trays) are positioned to assigned workstation • Build carton by hand by folding flaps down • Apply sticker with code date, product code, and slide box down chute or stack as required • Seal carton with machine on packing conveyer, fold flaps on top down and tape them into place • Stack/palletize- manually place carton/bag/ tray on the correct pallet according to proper stack pattern • Remove defective bags from pack line and place into rework totes • Notify supervisor of any out of place objects or items • Assemble trays, build totes and line them with plastic as required • Sweep and keep area clear, clean, and place trash/non conforming product in proper receptacles • Perform other duties as assigned QualificationsREQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILTIES: • Ability to work in a fast paced and high pressure environment • Ability to work as a team and follow instructions • Ability to use the equipment and tools used to perform the job • Good mathematical skills (such as adding and subtracting) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • High School Diploma or equivalent; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Three to six months experience in a production facility • Bilingual (English/Spanish) PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Material exposure-moving mechanical parts • Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles and vibrations • Must be able to lift/push-pull/carry up to 50 pounds • Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period of time Additional Information The Company is committed to providing equal opportunity for employees and applicants in all aspects of the employment relationship, without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, citizenship, marital status, veteran status, disability, age, religion or any other classification protected by law.
