Highline Warren is currently seeking an experienced Shipping Lead-Retail.

As a Retail Shipping Lead, you will provide leadership to the Warehouse Associates as they perform distribution-related processes. This is an opening shift position with a start time of 7 AM.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the supervisor in promoting and facilitating a safe work environment for all employees and take appropriate action to correct unsafe acts and procedures.
• Organize and direct workflow for the assigned team when the supervisor is unavailable.
• Ensure excellent customer satisfaction through on-time delivery and achieving accuracy metrics.
• Motivate and assist the assigned team in meeting and exceeding goals and metrics.
• Move materials within a warehouse and assist in other distribution activities as directed by the supervisor or manager.

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 3 years of distribution experience and 2 years of experience in a Warehouse Lead position

This position will directly lead Microfix distribution team members overseeing the daily operations and assisting the Department Supervisor with warehouse tasks. This individual will be the liaison between Team Members and the Department Supervisor / Manager.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities

* Provide team leadership in balance with and in the absence of department supervisor.
* Works with limited supervision to achieve department objectives, optimizing resource utilization and balance warehouse tasks.
* Consistently achieves schedule commitments, promise dates and insures customer demands are met.
* Escalates significant problems to the appropriate level of personnel.
* Cross-trains and rotates to develop proficiency at multiple warehouse functions.
* Adheres to and is in compliance with all safety procedures and practices. Immediately reports any safety concerns or violations to management.
* Maintains positive contacts both within the immediate group and with other areas for exchange of information. Works as part of a group within each process.
* Requires normal business courtesy.
* Learns and applies concepts of lean manufacturing as applied to assigned area. Helps complete visual management (SQDP) tools as directed. Adheres to the 6S requirements of assigned area. Acquires and understands hour by hour chart for job being performed.
* Participates in continuous improvement activities including procedure, process, quality, and productivity improvements.
* Coordinates activities with other steps within the process at that specific step of the process.
* Prevents, detects, and corrects errors and works to develop more effective ways of doing such. Performs job tasks with an error free focus.
* Completes documentation of operations and quantities completed.
* Trains and develops proficiency at standard work in area assigned.
* Performs other tasks as directed by Management

* Advises the Department Supervisor, or designee, of transactions and/or special concerns on a daily basis.
* Ability to solve practical problem and deal with of concrete variables within the scope of immediate operations.
* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
* Ability to read, understand and follow process documentation and instructions.
* Ability to operate within product specifications.
* Ability to work with limited supervision.
* Ability to escalate significant problems to the appropriate level of personnel.

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in preparing items for shipment.

Shift: 3pm-12pm

Essential Functions:

Ensures shipping positions are staffed appropriately depending upon workflow.

Makes certain that enough personnel are available to load product into trucks.

Assists in boxing, crating and loading product as necessary.

Pulls and stages shipments to be picked up via common carrier (LTLs).

Prepares shipping documents as necessary.

Performs other duties as determined by workflow and necessity.

Begins work shift with flex/stretch conditioning program.

Job Requirements:

Education: High School Graduate/GED.

Knowledge: Must be able to read, write and perform basic math skills as job duties require.

Mental/Physical/Visual Demands: Must have good communication skills and be able to interact with people. Must possess common sense, positive attitude, and demonstrate excellent attendance. Must be quality and safety conscious; and a team player. Must be able to work quickly with product and able to lift and carry 0 to100 pounds maximum approximately 1 to five feet: Usually, two workers lift any product weighing more than 75 pounds. Lifting, lowering and carrying from overhead position, floor to chest and waist to chest required for loading and off-loading vehicles.

Ability to frequently push/pull, bend at the waist and neck, kneel/squat, twist, use repetitive hand/arm movements, use foot pedals when driving forklift, climb and work at heights when driving forklift, and ascend/descend forklift to meet the physical demands characteristic of this job. Must have excellent manual dexterity and be able to concentrate for sustained periods. In order to perform the duties associated with this job, sight within normal limits is essential.

Working Conditions: Occasional sitting while when performing computer and clerical duties (approximately 30 minutes per day) or when driving a forklift. Extended standing on concrete surface while performing regular duties. Static standing may occur for brief periods of time ranging up to five minutes. Constant walking is required throughout the warehouse to retrieve and transfer specific window products for shipping to help load product onto trucks and to assist with boxing/crating. May be subject to slippery surfaces, moving objects and noise in the Packaging area.

Equipment/Tools Used: Forklift, computer with keyboard/mouse, cart and writing utensil. Required personal protective equipment inclusive of but not limited to: Hardhat, gloves, earplugs, goggles, safety shoes (steel toe shoes) and back brace.

Safety: Safe work performance is required from each Associate at all times. Perform all duties and responsibilities in a safe manner in accordance with applicable Health and Safety Manuals.

Required to wear or use personal protective equipment as applicable and to immediately report unsafe working conditions.

Comply with all legislative requirements as outlined by Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.

Additionally, the proper discharge of safety responsibilities is an integral part of each Associate's performance appraisal.
