Independently repair and service commercial vehicles from a mechanical vehicle in and around the local area
Perform Federal Inspections and general repairs Troubleshoot and Repair ABS systems Working Daily on dry van trailers Perform Preventative maintenance Repair and service commercial vehicles from a mechanical vehicle
Requirements

Must have own tools (tool allowance available) Be self-motivated to produce efficient quality repairs 1 - 3 years Mechanical Experience Valid driver's license required Ability to diagnose and repair equipment without supervision Willing to work outside year round Have a Mechanical background with commercial vehicles Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and
maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of STTC. Basic mathematical skills. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in writing or orally Computer skills: Ability to use computer; training will be provided as needed. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Equipment: Capable of operating lift gates, service truck, service tools, air compressors, hydraulic jacks, air guns, air gauges, mounting and balancing machines in the service shop or from a service truck; and computer and office equipment. Present a well groomed and professional appearance to STTC customers.

Must be familiar with Plant safety rules and guidelines and be sure they are followed by self and all associates in area.

Must have a positive attitude, work well with a team, and have initiative in improving company operations, food safety and Plant Safety.
Must be able to work effectively with other departments.
Assists Manager in management of equipment and personnel when needed including possessing basic leadership skills.
Prepare equipment for production. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Frequent bending, lifting, twisting, turning, climbing, squatting, crawling, and reaching are required.
Overhaul equipment or building structure as needed
Equipment:
Have operational knowledge of all equipment in the area
Have ready to run at start of shift.
Must have three years or more of mechanical experience in the areas of: electrical (12V DC circuits), pneumatics, hydraulics, power transmission, and basic welding and cutting.Assist other maintenance in repair of equipment when necessary.
*Two year Vocational Degree is preferred and 5 years of experience in related field.
Must possess basic hand tool's to repair and maintain equipment (per company tool Policy)
Must have tools to be able to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plant and /or field equipment, both electrically and mechanically.
Must be able to use mechanical and electrical hand tools and shop equipment.

Truck Shop Mechanic

Maintains diesel and gasoline powered equipment and trucks, all makes and models, operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping records

Responsibilities

+ Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.

+ Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.

+ Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.

+ Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.

+ Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.

+ Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.

+ Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.

+ Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

+ Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.

+ Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.

+ Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.

+ Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Skills/Qualifications:
