Usually, shop technicians don't need a college education. The most common degree for shop technicians is high school diploma with 30% graduates, with only 28% shop technician graduates earning bachelor's degree. Shop technicians who decided to graduate from college often finish University of Louisiana at Lafayette or University of Phoenix. Some good skills to have in this position include preventative maintenance, routine maintenance and diagnosis.
