1848 – first school built on the present site of Shorewood High School campus.
A third school, built in 1896, was constructed with pine boards and painted red.
By 1914, the four-room Murray Avenue School was bursting at the seams with 112 boys and 80 girls enrolled.
1915 – St Robert Elementary School opened with first four grades, added a new grade each year thereafter
Since opening in 1922, the high school had grown from 4 to 250 students.
The school population grew rapidly and in 1927 a two story addition was built that included classrooms, a small library, and a gymnasium.
However, Arnold Hall continued to be used for high school speech classes, plays and graduation ceremonies until the Auditorium was completed in 1936.
1970 – Intermediate School built and Early Childhood Center additions made to Atwater and Lake Bluff
Kindergarten was established in 1983.
The last addition, which included additional classrooms and the gymnasium, was completed in 1993.

2003 – H.S. Science addition opened
Current Atwater families and staff began their centennial celebration on January 21, 2015 at Winter Sing.
