ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Following established SOP's, Laboratory Technicians ensure customer satisfaction by supporting laboratory staff through executing various entry level laboratory duties, resulting in the timely and accurate reporting of data Gather appropriate materials needed to prepare and analyze test samples Sample receipt, login, storage and disposal Prepare necessary standards, solutions, media, etc., that are required for sample analyses Perform basic equipment and instrumentation set up and operation Execute routine laboratory maintenance efforts, such as glassware cleaning and sterilization, and ensuring the laboratory is well maintained Accurately record observations and data Maintain accurate, up to date logs, notebooks and equipment records Perform necessary laboratory administrative functions such as filing paperwork, photocopying, reviewing of data, and entering data into computerized LIMS Comply with and promote Personnel, Safety, and Quality Program Other duties as assigned MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent Ability to work with small vials, test tubes and delicate laboratory equipment Ability to apply basic algebraic concepts to perform basic laboratory calculations and accurately measure substances, liquids and/or solutions Ability to read and apply established protocols and SOP's to daily objectives Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats Ability to see fine particles in samples WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands and working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Title: Clinical Laboratory Associate Pay Rate: $24.00 26.70/hr on W2 Duration: 12 Months Shift 8-4 Hours 40hrs/week Prepare labels and label clinical study samples. Assist in collection of clinical study samples or necropsy. Aliquot clinical study samples. (serum, swab effluents, fecal samples, animal tissue samples). Maintain electronic inventory of clinical study samples. Accurately record all laboratory activities and techniques on data capture forms, research notebooks, and raw data notebooks as appropriate. Review and contribute to protocols, planning, and execution. Create and prepare submissions to diagnostic laboratories and to BIAVRC laboratories. Compile testing information from outside labs and BIAVRC labs for statistical and reporting within clinical teams Support clinical teams with document scanning, manual data entry and quality control of data entry. Receives samples, plans, and executes processing and delivery to the appropriate lab for testing. Ability to Plan and create a weekly schedule from multiple lists Maintain number lists with minimal transposition Initiates, executes, completes, and communicates duties and related issues Effective organization and time management skills. Effective oral and written communication skills. Detailed oriented Experience with the safe and appropriate use of BSL2 organisms preferred.
