Frederick C. Beddingfield III, MD, PhD is a physician, scientist and biotech entrepreneur and is CEO of Kira Pharmaceuticals. He is a board-certified dermatologist and emergency medicine physician fellowship trained in cutaneous surgery and oncology. Dr. Beddingfield previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Sienna Biopharmaceuticals and Chief Medical Officer of Kythera Biopharmaceuticals, Inc, which was acquired by Allergan for $2B in 2015. In addition, he was Chief Medical Officer of Allergan Medical and led the development and approval of numerous global premier drugs in over 50 countries and has led 4 successful FDA advisory committees.Dr. Beddingfield earned an MD degree with Honors from the University of North Carolina and a PhD in Policy Analysis from RAND Graduate School of Policy Studies, completing his Dermatology and Emergency Medicine residency and fellowship at UCLA in the STAR program. Currently, Dr Beddingfield is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the UCLA School of Medicine where he has been on the faculty teaching and seeing patients since 2002. He serves on the Board of Directors of several private and non-profit organizations and was the recipient of the Elle Genius Award.
