1963

7, 1963, the Western Baptist Osteopathic Hospital opened with 35 beds in 1,300 square feet and with three physicians and a staff of 36 employees.

• The first baby born in this location arrived at 1:15 a.m. on Oct 15, 1963.

1972

• In 1972 the Solarium was converted to an eight-bed wing.

1980

• In 1980 construction began on a 1,200 square foot storage facility and an addition of 4,000 square feet to house administration and the main part of the building underwent extensive remodeling.

1985

1985: After 30 years without any significant growth, a three-story inpatient tower was constructed at SVDH.

1990

1990: To offer oncology treatment and care for Porterville’s residents, a cutting-edge Cancer Treatment Center (see right) was opened.

1994

• In 1994 the new Emergency Department and new building entrance were officially opened.

1995

1995: The five-story patient inpatient tower (see below) was completed this year, commemorating a major milestone for the hospital’s expansion and creating a lasting landmark for Tulare County.

2003

2003: Sierra View opened its Medical Office Building (MOB) on Pearson Drive just north of the main campus to offer outpatient services while also creating more office space for staff.

2004

• In 2004 an expansion in the Maternal Child Department was completed and expansion of the Emergency Department was started.

2005

2005: The Cancer Treatment Center doubled in size after extensive remodeling and was renamed the Roger S. Good Cancer Treatment Center.

2007

2007: To expand the services provided within the healthcare district, Sierra View opened its outpatient Dialysis Center (see right) located just north of the MOB.

2017

February 2017: With high patient volumes seen in the Emergency Department annually, Sierra View’s Urgent Care facility opened its doors within the MOB to evaluate and treat non-life threatening injuries and illnesses.
