Available shifts: Rochester: (milling) M-TH 1st: 500a - 330p M-TH 2nd: 500p - 330a Rochester: (turning) M-F 1st 530a - 145p M-F 2nd 130p - 945p M-F 3rd 930p - 545a Newington: (milling) M-TH 1st 500a -330p M-TH 2nd 530p-330a Job Duties and Responsibilities: Independently load parts and operate a minimum of one type of CNC equipment. Complete all operational processes, checklists, control plans and procedures as required. Correctly identify and assemble cutting tools and tool holder assemblies based on existing process documentation. Learn and understand the difference between types of tool wear. (See Operator Expectations for more details) Identify the correct start line in the program. Gain basic working/functional knowledge of M codes. Look at parts to ensure they were machined properly. This would include surface finish conditions, missing features, etc. Basic troubleshooting of the machine (with assistance) if there is an error code and escalate issues to the Lead or Supervisor. Complete all required inspection measurements as defined on quality control plans using hand tools, gage pins, caliper, micrometer, and Micro-Hite measurement tools. Must properly load and run equator. Learn to read CMM reports and reports from the equator and adjust parts. Education/Experience & Skills: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. List the experience and skills required for the position. Ability to set the tool to the correct tool height with assistance from others. Typically requires 90 days as a CNC Trainee and or one (1) year of demonstrated CNC Machine Operator experience. Basic computer and math skills are required. Why Choose SIG SAUER? Employee-Owned Premier Countertop Company is looking for a CNC Machine Operator for our growing company in Syracuse. Full-time, Monday through Friday, year-round position with occasional overtime and room for growth! Set up and operate machines to cut and shape stone for countertops to the size and quality needed according to specifications. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: •Examine order specifications using blueprints to determine machine adjustments and setup requirements. •Load material on CNC machine using overhead cranes. •Align countertops to lasers for set up of machine. •Load job files into machine. •Use calipers to measure thickness of stone. •Inspect completed work pieces for defects, such as chipped edges and marred surfaces, and sort defective pieces according to defect. Verify conformance to product specifications. •Perform minor CNC machine maintenance, such as oiling or cleaning machines, dies, or work pieces, or adding coolant to machine reservoir to maintain orderly and safe operations. •Perform related duties as requested to meet department and or company requirements. MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: •HS diploma or equivalent. •Experience in CNC, pro-edge or related fabrication machinery desired. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES •Ability to effectively operate and/or read measuring devices and gauges including, but not necessarily limited to, tape measure, protractor, calipers, micrometers, microhite and inspection gauges. •Basic computer skills to scan and/or load jobs. •Ability to accurately read and interpret blue prints to ensure proper job set-up. •Ability to set-up and operate various power machines for the creation of custom countertops. •Excellent attention to detail. •Ability to select appropriate tools and equipment needed to do a job. •Ability to follow written or oral instructions. •Basic shop math skills. MENTAL AND VISUAL REQUIREMENTS: Close mental and visual attention required for controlling machines or processes at a rapid pace requiring close coordination and fine adjustment. Following fairly complex work methods or operations that obtain size, shape, or physical qualities of product. Equipment And Machines Used: This position requires the regular use hand and power tools, pallet jack, CNC machine. Safety Equipment: Safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, hard hat.
