Position Summary:
The Ophthalmic Technician Assistant plays a vital role as an assistant to our physicians; maintains a smooth and seamless flow of patients to examination rooms; and effectively communicates with patients to ensure accurate expectations are set for their visit.
Job Duties & Essential Functions:
Patient Intake & Clinical Support
Greet patients and initiate the intake process by documenting the reason for visit, current symptoms, and relevant clinical information under supervision.
Keep patients informed throughout their visit and accurately document follow-up notes in the electronic health record (EHR).
Perform basic eye tests prior to the physician's examination, clearly explaining each test and its purpose to the patient.
Process prescription refill requests as directed by the physician, ensuring appropriate documentation is completed.
Coordinate and obtain prior authorizations for medications in accordance with insurance requirements to ensure timely patient access to prescribed treatments.
Patient Education & Communication
Provide patients with clear instructions on medication use and pre-/post-operative care as guided by the physician.
Maintain professional, compassionate communication and ensure a positive patient experience throughout the visit.
Track, document, and communicate laboratory results to physicians and patients promptly, ensuring accuracy and continuity of care.
Room & Equipment Maintenance
Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and clinical areas.
Open and close exam rooms daily, including cleaning equipment, charging devices, and securing medical instruments.
Properly shut down and clean diagnostic testing equipment at the end of the day.
Assist with cleaning and preparation of surgical instruments prior to sterilization.
Inventory & Compliance
Check and log daily medical refrigerator temperatures and monitor expiration dates of clinical supplies.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels and restock supplies as needed.
Follow all clinic safety protocols and infection control procedures.
Assist with opening and closing the clinic, ensuring readiness and security.
Administrative Tasks & Development
Monitor and respond to work-related emails and utilize shared tools (e.g., Google Drive) for communication and updates.
Participate in training, webinars, and in-service sessions to stay current with best practices and procedures.
Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient privacy and ensuring the confidentiality of all health information.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year of experience in a medical office or customer service environment.
Strong customer service skills with a professional and friendly demeanor.
Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
Skilled in problem-solving with attention to detail.
Basic computer proficiency.
Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification preferred or enrolled within twelve (12) months of hire and completion within two (2) years of hire.

Assist with in-office minor surgical procedures and laser treatments.
Complete prescription refill requests as authorized by the physician, ensuring proper documentation in the patient chart.
Track, document, and communicate laboratory results to physicians and patients promptly, ensuring accuracy and continuity of care.
Educate patients on the use of medications and provide pre- and post-operative instructions as directed by the physician.

Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in providing professional nursing care to patients undergoing ophthalmic surgical procedures. This includes care during the preoperative, intraoperative, and post-anesthesia recovery phases in a high-volume, fast-paced outpatient environment. The RN ensures safe, efficient, and compassionate care while maintaining compliance with clinical standards and protocols.
In this role, the RN is also responsible for learning and working in all functional areas of the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) within the scope of RN practice, including the preoperative area, operating room, and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), to support the surgical team and ensure optimal patient flow and outcomes.
Job Duties & Essential Functions:
Preoperative
Perform nursing assessments and pre-surgical checklists.
Initiate IVs and administer preoperative medications.
Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures and recovery expectations.
Intraoperative
Serve as circulating nurse during surgeries (cataract, LASIK, oculoplastic, retina, glaucoma).
Ensure patient safety, accurate documentation, and maintenance of a sterile surgical environment.
Collaborate closely with the surgical team and anesthesia providers to support optimal outcomes.
Post-Anesthesia Recovery
Monitor and assess patients during recovery following surgery.
Manage symptoms such as pain or nausea and respond to any complications per physician protocols.
Provide discharge instructions and ensure readiness for safe transition home.
General Responsibilities
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Communicate effectively with surgeons, surgical technologists, and administrative staff.
Rigorously follow infection control and patient safety guidelines.
Support performance improvement initiatives and assist with room turnover and supply management.
Act as a preceptor by training and mentoring new RN hires, nursing assistants, and licensed practical nurses (LPNs).
Collaborate with nursing assistants and LPNs to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.
Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient privacy and ensuring the confidentiality of all health information.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of a nursing program with clinical rotations in surgical, perioperative, or acute care settings.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification -- required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification - preferred (or obtained within 6 months of hire)
Willingness and ability to work in all clinical areas of the ASC, including preoperative, intraoperative, and post-anesthesia care.
Strong organizational skills, clinical judgment, and eagerness to develop surgical nursing competencies through orientation and mentorship.
Familiarity with electronic health records and surgical documentation systems.
Ability to manage multiple patients and prioritize care in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

THE OPPORTUNITY AT HAND
We're looking for an empathetic Medical Receptionist to join our team. Medical Receptionists are often the first impression a patient has of OCLI. You're interacting with patients and providers, and building relationships with them, while making sure the office is running smoothly. You'll be handling medical records, managing insurance verifications, and most importantly, managing the patient experience. You have a positive attitude and are motivated to provide an excellent experience to anyone that walks through our clinic doors.
OUR EXPECTATIONS OF YOU
You'll provide our patients with a high level of service.
Manage complex scheduling of patients and ensure timely handling of all patient matters.
Register patients and manage patient flow in the office.
Provide additional administrative support.
You're a self-starter.
You're flexible and willing to go the extra mile to get the job done.
Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
Must be able to work 2 Saturdays a month.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Minimum of one year of experience in a customer service environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
You're comfortable managing sensitive patient information and medical records.
You're able to work collaboratively and cooperatively with a team.
You're able to provide white glove service to our patients.
You're detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
You have basic computer knowledge and are comfortable Microsoft office programs.
Medical Office experience or experience dealing with patients is considered a plus.
Familiarity with an EMR system is considered a plus.

OOMC is seeking a skilled experienced Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. As a Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting our providers in the delivery of high-quality patient care.
** Regular travel to satellite locations may be required **
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
Obtains patient history and transcribes results into our EHR (electronic health record) as physician(s) orally dictate during patient exam. Transcribes results in a accurate and detailed completion.
Records physician(s) fee tickets in EHR (electronic health record) as physician(s) orally dictate during patient exam.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Escorts patients to appropriate area (i.e., reception area, dilating room, cataract testing, etc.).
Assists physician(s) by obtaining supplies as needed during patient care.
Assistance to Technician as needed.
Performs visual acuity tests on patients in accordance to established guidelines.
Controls patient flow.
Performs autorefraction and lensometry tests as needed on patients in accordance with established guidelines.
Performs tonometry on patients in accordance to established guidelines.
Determines if patient needs further testing by technician. Notification by technician of name of patient that requires further testing.
Performs visual field testing, glare testing, color vision testing, Schirmer's tear testing on patients as required. Requirement is determined by established guidelines.
Reviews patient charts and posts tests and examination results into EHR (electronic health record) as well enter information of prior visits in EHR record.
Clean and sterilize equipment and maintain autoclave in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
Demonstrates the ability to work with geriatric patients and patients of all ages.
Stocking of supplies on an ongoing basis to keep current stock requirements.
Cleaning of patient exam rooms in relation to testing and equipment.
Demonstrates compliance with all provisions of safety rules and other policies and procedures.
Check expiration of medications and supplies and follow-up as appropriate and in accordance with established guidelines and policies.
SECONDARY JOB DUTIES:
Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. Enhances professional growth and development through meetings, education programs, seminars and conferences.
Performs other duties to ensure the smooth flow of work/patients in the office.
The salary range for this position will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and skill level, with final compensation determined based on qualifications and relevant expertise.
