Opportunity Overview: LSA is looking for American Sign Language Interpreters for a client in the Newport Beach, CA area. LSA network interpreters are independently contracted, and as such, are able to negotiate competitive fees for services based on experience, professional credentials, and market factors. Interpreters participating in the LSA network have the ability to accept or decline assignments as best fit their schedule. Independently contracted interpreters that join the LSA network are provided opportunities to accept challenging assignments and gain competitive industry experience. Interpreters are expected to remain committed to assignments accepted, and to arrive onsite by the time requested by the client. All interpreters are provided access to our web-based invoicing platform and 24hr coordinator support for assignments, invoicing, and general queries. Overview Position Summary: The Language and Cultural Specialist II under general supervision, provide interpreting services in a culturally sensitive manner to facilitate communication and the relaying of medical information between speakers of different languages at CHLA; and provide written translations as required in patient encounters such as translation of medical instructions and medication schedules, and any hospital related administrative correspondence with patients/families, including information, education and documentation materials. Minimum Qualifications: 2+ years' experience interpreting and translating in a healthcare setting, including experience working with the community and/or a target language population with a diversity of cultural/socio-economic backgrounds. Experience interpreting and translating with patients at a full range of developmental and educational levels. Our job is to support our customer's interpretation needs by providing language interpretation and in person. Essential Job Duties Completes orientations/observations of new interpreters, perform onsite assessments, and on-the-spot corrections within reason as permissible on behalf of SOSi. Knowledgeable of specialized vocabulary (terminology) in both English and Spanish to legal and criminal justice system terminology and immigration procedures.
