PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT
The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SUMMARY Provide languageinterpretation services, primarily in Spanish, to facilitate in person/virtual communication between parents and district staff during conferences, back-to-school nights, graduations, special education meetings, and other school-related activities. Interpret spoken and written information accurately and impartially, ensuring clarity and understanding for all parties. Provide interpretation over-the-phone, during online meetings, and records messages delivered by School Messenger. Must maintain professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and confidentiality while effectively conveying educational terminology and district-specific information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Provide expert interpretation services in a variety of modes (simultaneous, consecutive, sight translation) and modalities (in-person, phone, remote), maintaining accuracy in meaning, tone, and context.
Collaborate proactively with teammates and other staff to schedule, plan, and provide interpretation services for events such as parent-teacher conferences, school board meetings, and community forums.
Interpret in diverse settings and for various purposes (school/district events, parent-teacher conferences, enrollment, graduation, school board meetings, IEP meetings, disciplinary hearings).
Sight-translate written materials written in both working languages (when applicable).
Perform research to find and assimilate information on a broad range of topics in support of interpreting assignments.
Accompany staff members performing home visits to provide interpretation services.
Provide interpretation for recorded messages that need to be disseminated quickly (text messages, School Messenger recordings).
Adhere to and implement the AAITE or NAETISL National Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for Interpreters in Education.
Promote student success through engagement for parent/family involvement (attendance, behavioral, and academic issues).
Act as an intermediary and cultural/linguistic liaison to facilitate communication for families, schools, and district departments regarding school regulations, expectations, and cultural differences.
Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate school and family needs, including early morning and evening availability.
Maintain cultural sensitivity and professionalism while supporting effective two-way communication.
Maintain accurate records and calendar appointments to support compliance, team collaboration, and resource planning.
Log check-out and check-in of district equipment. Ensure equipment is properly secured and not left unattended. Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment promptly for repair or replacement.
Support emergency communication efforts as needed, including interpreting urgent announcements or notifications.
Participate in training and professional learning to maintain and improve interpretation skills, to stay informed about legal requirements, terminology, and district practices, and to enhance team collaboration and efficacy.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum one year of interpreting experience preferred. Experience working with children, families, and/or community agencies preferred. Experience working in an educational setting strongly preferred.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Postsecondary coursework or professional interpreter training preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS: Valid Colorado driver's license and car insurance required upon hire. Obtain an interpreter training credential (e.g., The Community Interpreter International, Bridging the Gap, NCBMI, or CCHI) within 6 months of hire (if not already held).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Fluency in both English and Spanish (or other designated language), including advanced proficiency in grammar, vocabulary, and colloquial expressions. Knowledge of cultural nuances and effective communication techniques to bridge language gaps. Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills for accurate and clear interpretation in order to render a precise message. Active listening to effectively capture and convey the intended meaning of speakers. Note-taking skills to capture key points/concepts during lengthy discussions or complex topics to aid in the message. Job Tasks Descriptions
1. Interpret and/or transliterate all academic instruction, films, assemblies, conferences, student meetings, individualized education plan meetings, field trips, extra-curricular activities and support services in and out of the classroom for Deaf/Hard of Hearing student(s). When voicing for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students(s), exhibit a good range of sophisticated vocabulary; native like expression, and infrequent use of circumlocution. Use clear articulation with consistent pronunciation, intonation, and affect to sound like native speaker. Have strong command of grammatical structure and evidence of command of complex instruction for complete comprehension. Speech is effortless and smooth; rate and production approach that of a native speaker comfortably.
Interpret: the process of changing spoken English into the preferred manual mode of communication for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing student, or vice versa.
Transliterate: the process of changing spoken English into a manual communication mode that maintains the grammar and syntax of the English language, or vice versa.
Translate: the process of interpreting the spoken English preferred manual mode of communication into spoken English, or vice versa.
2. Tutor Deaf/Hard of Hearing students (under the supervision of coordinating Teacher of the Deaf), both in and out of the classroom individually or in small groups by reinforcing concepts taught in the mainstream classes; assisting with missed assignments; modeling language; reinforcing vocabulary, study skills and life skills; assisting in learning variations of sign systems; developing of language concepts; changing CASE/PSE into written English; and teaching students the role of the interpreter, students' rights and responsibilities in how to use an interpreter.
3. As a member of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing student's education team, communicate with the team (e.g., mainstream teachers, teachers of the Deaf and support staff) to give and receive appropriate information/progress/problems that may impact a student's performance or learning, including, but not limited to, mode of communication, tutoring strategies, educational goals of student, curriculum content, classroom goals and student educational rights and services. May assist with personal hearing equipment (e.g. helping a student put hearing aids in) and/or assist with district hearing equipment (e.g. DM systems). May be asked to support instructors on monitoring behavior during class and extra-curricular activities; follow through with behavior programs established for individual students; use various equipment, augmentative communication systems or adaptations, any OT/PT requirements set forth in student I.E.P. (individual educational plan) and any medical conditions that require staff monitoring. Analyze and review instructional material to prepare for content and message delivery. Ensure appropriate logistics (e.g., lighting, seating, etc.). May be asked to assist Deaf Education Department staff by preparing instructional materials and various clerical duties as Interpreter time allows (e.g., scheduling interpreters for extra-curricular and after school activities, copying materials, and documenting information for DH/H Department, etc.).
4. Interpret and/or transliterate confidential in-school individual and group counseling/mental health sessions, disciplinary interactions, disciplinary hearings, and physical/occupational/speech therapy sessions between Deaf/Hard of Hearing student and staff. Interpret and/or transliterate for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, or Deaf/Hard of Hearing staff at parent/teacher conferences, staff department meetings, district level meetings, in-services, and other required training. Interpret and/or transliterate for Deaf/hard of hearing parents of students in the District at parent/teacher conferences, back-to-school nights, after school performances, individual meetings and staff meetings. May provide Deaf awareness education to hearing staff and students through staff in-services, student groups and one-on-one communication. Promote positive public relations between the Deaf education program, the school and the community.
5. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
• Degree from an Interpreter Preparation Program (IPP) (Associates or Bachelors as required by IPP).
• Proficient in use of Conceptually Accurate Signed English (CASE)/Pidgin Signed English (PSE), and/or American SignLanguage (ASL).
• No experience required; one (1) year of experience preferred in educational interpreting.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, or CERTIFICATIONS:
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) 3.5 or above.
• Must keep up-to-date any licenses, registrations, certifications, and/or authorizations required in this section.

”, we are seeking professional and diverse, culturally competent, and credentialed medical InPerson Interpreters to join our skillful team to facilitate communication between healthcare providers and their patients, regardless of language or cultural barrier. InPerson Interpreter Responsibilities
Provide effective onsite interpreting service for consumers.
Always exhibit professional appearance and behavior, including punctuality and preparedness for shifts.
Demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly to new and changing technologies.
Pass screening before taking in-person commitments.
Adhere to interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements specific to interpreting context (i.e., hospitals, courts, schools, etc.).
Respect for and understanding of our Limited English Proficient (LEP) clients, culture, dialect and beliefs and preferences as it relates to medical procedures.
Strong aptitude and passion for customer service and interpreting.
Spoken Language Minimum Qualifications
Fluent and have strong verbal communication skills in both the source and target language (i.e., Swahili-to-English or vice-a-versa).
Extensive knowledge of code of ethics and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI and NCIHC).
HIPAA Training for Business Associates certificate (completed within the last year)
Proof of language proficiency via a medically based language assessment (LangStat, Reach Diversity, Language Testing Int'l)
Accredited Medical Interpreting Training course (i.e.: ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training, 40-hour accredited medical courses).
Preferred Qualifications
Degree or certifications in interpreting practices.
National Medical Interpreter Certification by CCHI or NBCMI.
2 years of medical interpreting experience, within a hospital or clinical setting.

We are currently seekingprofessional in-person interpreters to support our growing needs in Denver, CO
(specially in South Denver). We have an urgent need for Spanish interpreters, but we welcome applicants for all languages.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality in-person consecutive and/or simultaneous interpretation.
Accurately and completely interpret spoken communication between English and the target language.
Maintain professionalism and cultural sensitivity while working with diverse communities.
Communicate effectively with clients and other parties during assignments.
Desired Qualifications:
Native fluency in the target language.
Bicultural in addition to bilingual.
At least 1 year of professional interpreting experience.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Willingness to undergo a background check and fingerprinting in South Denver.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience interpreting in SPED or IEP school meetings.
Degree in interpreting or translation.
