Candidates must display a wide continuum of language skills in American Sign Language and English and consistently exhibit excellent internal and external customer service. This position is available to new applicants and current Sorenson non-exempt employees in good standing. * Hearing interpreters will effectively interpret between ASL and spoken English
* Deaf interpreters will effectively interpret between ASL, Tactile American Sign Language, other forms of visual communication, and written English

* Provide excellent customer service while maintaining a respectful and professional attitude with customers and colleagues

Extensive knowledge of the NAD/RID Code of Professional Conduct and Deaf Culture ethics and standards of practice.
Familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as other state and federal laws applied to medical interpreting.
HIPAA Training for Business Associates certificate (completed within the last year)
State licensed where applicable.
Preferred Qualifications
ASL/English fluency, and bilingual/bicultural competency.
Degree or certifications in ASL interpreting practices.
Minimum 2 years of in-person ASL interpreting experience within a medical setting, preferred.
Proven national medical interpreter certification (CCHI or NBCMI), or medical interpreter training diploma (i.e.: Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training, any 40-hour nationally accredited medical interpreter training course),
