    PART TIME Native Language Support-On Demand Interpreter Contract: Miscellaneous, Hourly Immediate Supervisor: Building Principal/Administrator and Executive Director of Assessment-Gifted- ESL and K-12 PE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Must be able to act as a native language support/translator in the target language for the staff members and limited English proficient student and family. Must be able to communicate clearly with appropriate grammar and syntax in the target language and in English in the domains of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. * Assist in the preparation and delivery of the education program under the supervision of, and as directed by the assigned certified staff member. * Assist in the direct supervision of students under the supervision of, and as directed by the assigned certified staff member as necessary and directed. * Supports language needs/communication with families by phone or email as needed, regarding various concerns. Utilized technology to support the varying languages to translate/interpret all forms in the target language to ensure the information is accurately communicated between school and home. * Assist building staff and families during the enrollment and transition process into assigned buildings and courses. * Administer screener assessments to measure student's English language proficiency. Support state and local assessment as directed by the Building Test Coordinator and District Test Coordinator. * Meets the highest standard of confidentiality, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act as well as compliance of state and federal Title III regulations. * Conduct yourself with proper interpreter protocol (adhering to what was said, not interjecting your thoughts, and speaking respectfully and directly to persons involved). * Will serve as native language support interpreter during ETR/IEP/504 meetings as the need arises. * Act as a liaison for the District, community, staff, students, and parents with tact and diplomacy while supporting the district's vision and mission. Attends Conference Nights and Open Houses. * Regularly communicates and collaborates with district administrators, ESL teachers, and other staff members in the district. * Attends a wide variety of meetings, community events, hearings, and/or interviews to serve as an interpreter of conversations. * Participates in workshops, conferences and/or meetings to maintain skills for professional growth and/or conveying information. * Adheres to all HCSD policies as outlined in the employee handbook. * Attend meetings and in-services as required. * Interact with the Superintendent and/or Board of Education and present information as requested. * Respond to routine questions and requests in a timely, appropriate manner. * Stay abreast of Board guidelines and policies, especially regarding state/local testing and Services for our English Language Learners. * Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, building administration, and directors.
