POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Director of Disability Services, the sign language interpreter provides services to students who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, or have other communication disorders. The sign language interpreter assists faculty, staff, students, and District 525 community members by providing sign language as a required accommodation under Section 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 at all campus locations during daytime hours. LSA network interpreters are independently contracted, and as such, are able to negotiate competitive fees for services based on experience, professional credentials, and market factors.
