SOSi is seeking **Spanish Linguists** **in Utah (Salt Lake City)** to support our federal law enforcement customer. The Spanish Linguist will provide operational support to support linguist and translator duties as assigned by the PMO. The role will involve providing live monitoring, translation, transcription, and interpretation support for our customer's ongoing and upcoming investigations. Additionally, these assignments require the flexibility to work assigned shift schedules, including the possibility of nights and weekends. We are looking for a meticulous and responsible Educational Interpreter working in the Cedar City area. Roles & Responsibilities As an Educational Interpreter you will: Interprets instructor's lectures, comments, and questions for deaf/hard-of-hearing students in a mainstream classroom setting. Interprets students' questions and statements. Interprets for school functions as assigned. Adapts signing level and system to the communication needs of the students. Tutors as appropriate under the supervision of the classroom instructor. Follows the code of ethics for certified interpreters. Participates cooperatively as a member of the educational team. Assists in coordinating note taking for students as needed. Communicates regularly with instructors, Directors or Lead Interpreter about student progress and concerns. Follows schedule as determined by program Director or Associate Superintendent. Minimum Requirements The Ideal Candidate will possess: EIPA 4.0 or higher, Utah Professional Certificate or National Certification recognized by the Utah Interpreter Program. May give consideration to candidates with EIPA rating 3.5-3.9 or State Novice Certification. Knowledge of the role and function of the Educational Interpreter Techniques and methods of teaching deaf and hearing impaired students Culture in the deaf community, especially as it relates to education Communicate fluently in American Sign Language and other sign systems Code of Ethics for interpreters Scientific and technical terminology used in various educational subjects Ability to demonstrate broad and fluent use of vocabulary, with a variety of strategies for communicating new vocabulary Use of appropriate signs and sign correctly in a variety of situations Demonstrate proper use of grammar Sign complex constructions Comprehend signed messages accurately Why Should You Join Our Team Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind employees make a positive difference to the lives of USDB students and for their families and enjoy seeing the difference they make every day. Supplemental Information Certification as an interpreter in the State of Utah or other interpreter certification recognized by the State of Utah. Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work. Successful completion of a criminal background check contingent upon employment This is a full-time position, work schedule Monday - Friday, six-and-one-half (6-1/2) hours per day, 181 days per school year.
