The role will involve providing live monitoring, translation, transcription, and interpretation support for our customer's ongoing and upcoming investigations. Additionally, these assignments require the flexibility to work assigned shift schedules, including the possibility of nights and weekends. The ideal candidate will be a computer savvy, "self-starter", capable of hitting the ground running and flexible to support assignments on very short notice. Essential Job Duties + Monitor live communication and listen to or read foreign language communications lawfully intercepted, and perform immediate verbal summaries, then subsequent written or typed summaries into the English language. + Transcribe audio/video and written communications to and from source language to English as required. + Interpret consecutively or simultaneously to and from source language to English as required. + Validate by reviewing other's original translation, transcription, or the quality control review of the specified original work in order to attest to the accuracy of the final work. + Summarize by providing concise and accurate synopsis of oral or written communications. + Provide reliable, accurate gist's and summaries of intercepted communication to law enforcement officers. + Attend federal and state legal briefings, known as Title III minimization, prior to the beginning of any new investigation. + Assist law enforcement officers in the preparation of evidence and investigation summaries for the possibility of federal or state trials. + Serve as a "fact" witness in federal or state court when subpoenaed to testify. + Maintain regular communication with the program manager and keeping them informed of available hours/days/shifts for upcoming assignments. + Perform other duties as assigned by the customer or the Program Manager. **Qualifications** Minimum Requirements + Must be 18 years old or older. + Hold a high school diploma or equivalent. + Be a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Residents who are in the U.S. legally and have legal work status.     Sign language interpreter job in Ogden, UT

    Coordinates and delivers both interpretation (oral) and translation (written) services for individuals with limited English proficiency across all Intermountain Health facilities and virtual services. **Essential Functions** + Interpret medical and general information with the highest degree of accuracy and completeness in consecutive, simultaneous and sight translation modes for patients, families, and Intermountain Health staff, using appropriate communication methods according to the individual's developmental age and mental condition. + Interpret complex medical information, demonstrating expert knowledge of medical terminology and the healthcare system. + Acts as a cultural mediator, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and superior intercultural communication skills. Renders unbiased interpretation to ensure accurate exchange of information in the proper cultural context. + Adheres to the National Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for Healthcare Interpreters, demonstrating knowledge of HIPAA, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and Section 1557 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. + Manages time productively, displaying a proactive approach to the job. Responds to requests in a timely manner and provides staff with an estimated time of arrival for interpretation assignments. Refers staff to phone or video interpretation per guidelines. + Use computer, software, and electronic tools for research, data entry and other communication purposes within the work environment. Maintains accurate and complete records of all interpretation events. Ensures data across multiple platforms or sources is consistent and accurate. + Translates written material into one of more languages, ensuring meaning, context, and localization are maintained. Completes assignments in a timely manner and with a high degree of accuracy. **Skills** + Professional ethics and communication + Basic computer and data entry skills + Collaboration/Teamwork + Time Management + Critical thinking + Situational awareness + Medical Terminology + Cultural Communications + Medical Knowledge + Language Interpretation and Translation **Posting Specifics** + Pay Range: $21.70 - $31.90 + Benefits Eligible: No + Shift Details: Part Time/PRN - 0 Hours + Location: McKay Dee Hospital (Ogden, Utah) + Shift Details: Variable hours, schedule will be discussed in interview. **Required Qualifications** + Successful completion of a pre-hire skills assessment. + Excellent oral and written command of both source and target language(s) as to obtain a "Professional Proficiency" or Level 3 in the ILR scale (or equivalent as approved by Manager), including specialized healthcare terminology. + Performs consecutive, simultaneous and Sight Translation with a high degree of accuracy in both languages. + Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast paced, high-pressure environment. + Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task. + Demonstrated interpersonal verbal and written communication skills to function as part of a team and the flexibility and good judgement to work independently. + Certificate of completion from a 40-hr Professional Medical Interpreter course For candidates who **do not meet** the Professional Medical Interpreter course requirement: You may be considered if you meet one of the following qualifications (If hired, you will need to complete the 40-hr. course on your own within six months): + Hold an interpreting certification in a different field (e.g., court) + Hold a college degree in translation or working language + Have 2 years of experience as a professional interpreter **Preferred Qualifications** + Two years of experience working as an interpreter in healthcare settings. + Bachelor's Degree in Interpretation or Translation, Languages or Communications. + National Certification as a Healthcare or Medical Interpreter from either CCHI or NBCMI; In Utah: State Certified Medical Language Interpreter License by DOPL. + Completion of a college-level medical terminology course. + Knowledge of EPIC. **Physical Requirements:** + Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs. + Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. + Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate supplies and equipment with precision and accuracy.
