Works closely with contracted and internal DERs and other engineering resources to develop and certify repair designs, supporting FAA 8110-3 approvals. Produces and reviews technical investigations, repair instructions, and written accomplishment instructions for component repairs or modifications for new products and services. Develops work statements and hour estimates to support project proposals, aligning with strategic business objectives. Represents the engineering function in interactions with customers, OEMs, and regulatory authorities, presenting value-based repair solutions and resolving technical issues. Leads the facility response to support Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletin implementation efforts from a commercial capture perspective. Co-leads the facility Cost War Room process and collaborates with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain, to optimize repair processes, reduce material and labor costs, and reduce turnaround time (TAT). Manages follow-on actions from Cost War Room meetings to completion, including PMA, DER, and other cost or lead-time saving opportunities. This position is expected to operate a variety of hand and power tools and may clean and prepare work areas. A Composite Technician must have superior knowledge of the materials and processes used in the manufacturing process of composite structure. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
