Job Description
Broad Function and Purpose of Position:
Batch Operators are responsible for the daily operation of complex chemistry processes at the Marion Plant. Batch Operators execute daily production requirements, achieving safety, housekeeping, quality, rate objectives and participating in continuous improvement activities as directed. Batch Operators must be able to work independently within the framework of a team while demonstrating a positive attitude.
Specific Responsibilities:
Actively participate in the plants Sika SAFE Program.
Understand, comply, and regularly inspect the work area to ensure all safety policies and practices are followed and a high degree of industrial housekeeping is maintained at all times.
Oversee and operatepackaging equipment to ensure that all area specific functions conform to process and procedure specifications.
Drive cultural change and initiatives which emphasize safety, communication, co-operation, development, teamwork, environmental compliance, quality, productivity and waste elimination.
Perform inventory check of raw materials and packaging materials for daily production schedule.
Oversee and operate mixing equipment to ensure that all area specific functions conform to process and procedure specifications.
Ensure mixing equipment is running smoothly, within validated parameters, and in compliance with SOP's.
Ensure mixing processes are carried out and documented within a high level of compliance including but not limited to order of addition, mixing times, and other designated set points.
Performs line change overs and simple-to-moderate equipment adjustments and troubleshooting.
Understand, comply, and ensure that packaged products meet quality standards of customers including but not limited to product weight tolerances, overall appearance, DOT Labeling, and batch/identification numbers.
Uses PLC and observes flowmeters and pressure gauges, turn valves, and start pumps to transfer fluid chemicals to or from specified tanks and to processing areas.
Guide, assist and train new and temporary employees.
Demonstrates ability to use a computer and various computer programs including SAP and PLC programs.
To execute other projects or activities to-be-determined as directed by Plant Leadership.
Qualifications
Qualifications/Experience:
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Experience: 3+ year experience in an industrial environment/manufacturing environment.
Special Requirements/Competencies:
Must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
Must have good math skills, including the ability to work with fractions, decimals and percentages.
Must have the ability to develop process expertise in order to facilitate troubleshooting.

Job Description
The Production Operator is responsible for setting up, loading and operating production machines, and making necessary adjustments to ensure the quality of the product meets required specifications. The Production Operator may work in one of three areas - Spooling, Stranding or Closing, and is responsible for his/her own safety and the safety of those around the machines. The Production Operator works under the direct supervision of a Production Supervisor and the technical oversight of the Process Engineering and Quality department.
Duties & Responsibilities
Record set-up information at the start of each order.
Remove empty bobbins from the previously completed order and load full bundles of wire or bobbins using appropriate lifting devices.
Weld or knot new wire new supply to trailing end of previous order (if applicable).
Thread machine by pulling wire or strands through guides, tension rollers, and/or stranding or pre-forming heads.
Secure, install and adjust the proper dies, stranding/pre-forming head, crushing rollers, post-former and carboloy rings as required by the order.
Set the proper lay according to order specifications.
Adjust tension and die pressure at the beginning of the order and as required throughout the entire order.
Start lube pump as required by the order.
Inspect and replace tensioning devices as needed.
Inspect the set-change, including cutting a strand for helix-height measurement before requesting approval from the production supervisor.
Properly tag product, stage in proper storage area, and record all production.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Perform all job duties in accordance with work instructions and quality standards.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Fabricates and assembles aerospace plastic products, applying knowledge of working characteristics of plastics and bonding techniques, using precision instruments, hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment. Reads and interprets blueprints, work orders, and related documentation to determine methods and sequence of operations and dimensional and finish specifications. Inspect, part mark, and prepare products for shipping.
Manipulate small tools such as micrometers, calipers, box knife, exacto knife
Spray materials (colors, adhesives, etc...) onto plastic/foam parts
Cut, deflash and fabricate various rigid and flexible foam parts
Operate various cutting equipment such as band saws, table saws, routers and shapers; operate various mixing equipment
Read, interpret and convey instructions, verbally and in written form
Must be able to receive and interpret instructions and directions from supervisors and peers
Must demonstrate good judgment to perform the job correctly and safely
Ability to follow written instructions
Good communication skills
Must have a high school diploma or GED
Must have previous experience in manufacturing (preferably in aerospace or plastics manufacturing)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Standing 8 hours per day
Ability to occasionally lift up to 50#
Finger dexterity the ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
Arm-hand steadiness the ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position
Ability to work with or around chemical solvents
SHIFT
This position requires that you are available for either day or swing shift. We offer a $1.50 shift premium for anyone on swing shift. Overtime is optional and never mandatory!
