Overview
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Test Engineer for our Park City, UT Location. The Mechanical Test Engineer is a member of the Gear Systems Test Group and is the primary contributor to the analysis, design, and development of complex equipment used in testing aerospace gearboxes and actuators including testing and report creation.
Responsibilities
* Design, develop, validate, and verify mechanical test equipment that meets customer expectations. Work closely with Design Engineering to ensure test systems meet contract requirements, statement of work, and specifications. Designs to include schematics, CAD modeling, tolerance analysis, stress analysis, assembly planning, and Build of Materials management.
* Design Fluid Power systems to test production parts.
* Perform testing and create test reports.
* Work with technicians for setup, trouble shooting, repair, upgrade, and assist with maintenance services in support of engineering and manufacturing test equipment.
* Write test plans, procedures, and reports based on industry test standards per customer requirements and applicable specs to perform structural, environmental and performance tests.
* Generate support documentation of test stands including functional diagrams, specifications, performance capability, troubleshooting guidelines, and maintenance plans.
* Conduct design reviews and test readiness reviews with internal and external customers.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering field with eight years' experience in aircraft mechanical component system testing.
* Experience in the direct design of test stands, rotating machinery, and fluid power for qualification testing.
* Knowledge of safety guidelines related to test stand design and operation.
* Understanding of environmental qualification standards such as DO160, MIL-STD-810 or EUROCAE ED-14 is preferred.
* Demonstrated experience with CAD software
* Experience using industry drafting and design standards, including latest ASME Y14.5 Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing usage.
* Analytical experience to determine static and dynamic stresses is required.
* Familiarity with gaging and understanding of range and accuracy.

Job Responsibilities
Kit measuring instruments for upcoming Machine Changeovers to minimize downtime.
Reading and comprehension of blueprints, data, manuals, SOP's or other documentation to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment methods, certification process, formulas, or measuring instruments required.
Problem solving for non-conforming issues that may arise within the shop.
Regularly create and implement Process Improvements.
Operation of our coordinate measuring machine, keyence optical measurement system, surface roughness tester and other advanced metrology equipment.
Execute regular Quality Certification Service (QCS) on products.
Reporting features or parts that don't conform to print of design intent (NCR).
Examine and verify supplier-provided documentation, including First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), certificates of conformance, and various test reports.
Using precision measuring tools to conduct detailed visual and dimensional inspections.
Validate and maintain all measuring instruments such as: calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, thread gages, etc.
Document all inspection results, making clear acceptance or rejection decisions and generate required reports for clients.
Comply with safe work practices; understanding work injury procedures, workers comp, and OSHA standards
Provide support to the shop floor to uphold Syndicate's quality standards of all products.
Work closely with engineering, production, and other departments to interpret specifications, troubleshoot quality problems, and provide input for design improvements.
