Summary: Assists in delivery of primary healthcare, patient care management and clerical duties as required. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.
Requirements & Education: Knowledge of medical practice to assist in patient care. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments as directed. Skill in taking vital signs. Skill in maintaining records and recording test results. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to operate automated patient-billing system.
Education: High school diploma or GED required. Graduation or completion of Certified MedicalAssistant preferred, not required. Experience: Patient Care Technicians and Certified Nursing Assistant experience will be strongly considered. CPR Certification.

During initial orientation, working 3 days per week on weekdays will be required for 6-8 weeks.

General Summary:
The MedicalAssistant is responsible for daily clinical work in the outpatient/primary care setting in accordance with the Ambulatory MedicalAssistant Scope of Practice. Assists Physicians and other staff under the direction of a Registered Nurse, Advanced Practice Nurse and/or Physician.
Essential Job Functions:
⢠Depending on location, performs phlebotomy and specimen processing as directed by delegating provider.
⢠Administers, including but not limited to, intramuscular injections, subcutaneous injections, intradermal skin testing, topical medications, ophthalmic drops and nasal spray.
⢠Depending on location, performs ECGs, places Holter monitors and downloads telemetry data.
⢠Works in conjunction with other staff to maximize clinic flow.
⢠Intervenes appropriately in emergency situations.
⢠Documents data and changes in the Electronic Medical Record.
⢠Provides assistance and or back up support for administrative tasks including but not limited to scheduling patient visits and performing basic ācheck-in, check outā activities.
⢠Obtains measurements, patient history and other intake activities.
⢠Stocks and maintains the clinic area including ordering of supplies as needed.
⢠Demonstrates knowledge of pertinent aspects and competency with protocols related to the use of chemical disinfection, high level disinfection, and sterilization if required as part of the responsibilities of the role.
⢠Depending on location, directs High Level Disinfection scope cleaning in accordance with defined HLD processes.
⢠Completes trainings and education including but not limited to Healthcare Provider CPR.
⢠Other job functions as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
⢠High school diploma required.
⢠Successful completion of a formal MedicalAssistant program.
⢠Possesses 0 - 3 years of relevant clinical experience.
