Creating a Brighter Future

Boulder, CO-based Uplight is a Greentech company working to help limit and reverse global environmental devastation. Born out of the combination of several energy efficiency companies, Uplight provides software and services to clients all over the world with the mission of motivating and enabling them to go green.

This is a growing business with caring and hardworking people in a rapidly growing industry. Uplight looks at the reason why companies in the past haven't used the most sustainable practices and they use Behavioral Energy Efficiency methods to change peoples' ideas and perceptions regarding sustainability. They have ambitious goals and big expectations, but if anybody is going to make these changes in the world, it's Uplight.

Valuing the Planet

Changing the Behavior Surrounding Clean Energy Practices

Uplight sees that there is a definite change needed in order to drive the clean energy ecosystem forward. They work in a few different ways towards their goal of clean energy. One way they do it is through behavioral changes. They create Home Energy Reports for customers to see exactly where they need to cut back. These reports tailor the way Uplight's customers change their behaviors around energy efficiency.

All of Uplights services tend to serve the same goal: complete energy efficiency. They have a program where they advise and educate customers on how they can benefit from electric vehicles. It is initiatives like this that got Uplight its status as a certified B Corporation. Being named a B Corporation is the highest standard one can achieve in social corporate responsibility.

Uplight also holds itself to a very high standard of diversity. The company has several diversity initiatives and even has a full-time staff member dedicated to ensuring that they are hitting diversity goals. They know that every voice matters in their fight.

The People at Uplight

Committed to Sustainability

Uplight is a company dedicated to accelerating the clean energy ecosystem. And they value people who value that work in their personal lives. Uplight team members are known to be just as big of proponents of clean and sustainable energy as the company itself. Team members are known to utilize all sorts of sustainable practices at home. For example, Emily Beliveau, a Senior Manager, had solar panels installed at her home. She also commits to turning down the thermostats.

Ray Boutotte, a Software Engineer, said that he has turned his home into a smart home that is tuned to be as energy-efficient as possible. Customer Success Associate, Lexy Troup, said that some sustainability goals she has set for herself for the coming year are to ride her bike to work at least three days a week and to limit her clothes shopping habits.

Uplight team members are more likely to support organizations that are sustainable and vote for pro-environment candidates in their local and national elections. A lot of them practice sustainable farming techniques, as well.

These are just a few of the numerous ways that Uplight team members are tailoring their lives in little ways to reduce carbon footprint and create a better planet. And it proves that Uplight is full of people who not only share their values but live them.
