Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive the development of high performance opto-mechanical subsystems for a new tool platform at Applied Materials. As part of a multi-disciplinary team working on exciting new technologies, this role also offers solid personal career growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Independently, develops and implements opto-mechanical concepts high performance imaging and/or illumination optics, including tolerancing, alignment and automated mechanisms.
This position requires participation in all aspects of the design cycle from specification development, design, supplier support, part verification, and integration.
Technically lead and/or execute engineering projects and spearhead research and development of new technologies, as appropriate.
Problem identification and troubleshooting a wide range of significantly complex engineering problems.
Specify or perform significantly complex engineering analysis.
Interface with internal and external customers regarding significantly complex engineering issues to address customers High Value Problems (HVP) for a range of products
Generate product specifications. Define, coordinate, perform, and document engineering tests.
Specify the development, design, or modify engineering layouts/schematics and/or detailed drawings/specifications of significantly complex scope
Specify and review engineering documentation and engineering processes.
Qualifications
MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
Minimum of 8 years of Experience
Proficient in opto-mechanical, precision mechanical and mechanism design and familiar with high precision optical design implementations.
Experienced with specification derivations, tolerancing design, alignment and compensation, thermal and dynamic stability, metrology.
Experienced with 3D CAD such as Solidworks or Inventor, and FEA for static and dynamic structural and thermal analyses.
Anticipates business and regulatory issues; recommends product, process or service improvements
Leads projects with notable risk and complexity; develops the strategy for project execution
Solves unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business; requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions

U.S. Salary Range:
$163,000.00 - $224,000.00
The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. Job Purpose

About the Position - Responsibilities & Duties

Waga Energy, Inc. Project Engineers serve as members of a collaborative project team responsible for the management of landfill biogas to Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) projects in the USA via the successful delivery and operations of our WAGABOX units. The Project Engineer role is a highly responsible role supporting projects from the initial feasibility analysis stage through planning, design, permitting, construction, and ongoing operations.
Associated responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assisting with the development and execution of project scope and schedule, from FEED (Front End Engineering Design) studies through to project delivery and ongoing operations.
Assisting with all applicable regulatory and permitting related tasks to ensure compliance with all local, state, national, and industry specific codes and standards to include drafting and tracking requests for authorization.
Assisting with the procurement of equipment. This includes drafting equipment specifications and datasheets as well as coordinating with both the Waga process department and outside equipment suppliers.
Tracking and documenting project information (both internal and external) including information relevant to the procurement of equipment and supplies, as well as scheduling and progress related documentation.

About You - Qualifications & Skills
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, self-motivated professional with a bachelor's degree in engineering (chemical, mechanical, electrical, process, thermal or a related discipline), a minimum of 3 years of previous experience in a project engineering (or similar) role, and a passion for environmental preservation and sustainability. Experience with the conception and commissioning of equipment within a gas, chemical, or heat production related industry as well as knowledge of pressure equipment design is preferred but not required.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment are critically important for success in this role. Candidates must also be highly analytical and well organized. The ability to effectively build and maintain coworker, client and vendor/subcontractor relationships is a key element of the role as Waga Energy Project Engineers play an integral hands-on role in ensuring the successful execution of projects.
