How you'll make an impact: As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, you will join a highly performing team of engineers who build, own, and maintain backend services, data products and reporting applications. You will design, collaborate, and execute building the AdsWizz data products and reporting systems at scale while automating and providing insights into the data onboarding with the SXM Media and AdsWizz services. What you'll do: * Design and build high-performance, reliable, and scalable reporting APIs and data pipelines. * Lead high-level architecture discussions and planning sessions work with ad measurement, revenue and addressability data. * Work with various teams of engineers building software in a collaborative development process. * Execute tasks with utmost clarity and precision, demonstrating a strong sense of ownership and providing clear direction to drive projects forward effectively. * Collaborate with the Product team to clarify the scope of the projects by giving thoughtful feedback which challenges and clarifies requirements intent. * Collaborate with the Global Operations and Cloud Infrastructure teams to ensure flawless production deployments and support the Incident Management team. * Responsible for conducting technical interviews as needed, ensuring a consistently high bar for engineering excellence and performance standards. * Responsible for mentoring and guiding junior engineers. What you'll need: * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Mathematics or a similar field. * 12+ years of software engineering experience in Java programming language (preferably JDK17 or higher). * 5+ years of experience developing and designing data applications and data pipelines. * 7+ years of experience crafting microservices and scalable products, utilizing diverse cloud platforms (ideally AWS). * Strong understanding of engineering software processes, lifecycle methodology, configuration management, release management, and system verification and testing. * Ability to work independently and oversee entire projects or significant parts, focusing on completing the tasks on time. * Proven ability to research and become proficient in new technologies. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail and a dedication to continuous improvement. * Proficiency in constructing detailed software architecture diagrams. * Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels. * REST API-based microservices using Python, Java or similar. * Cloud data warehouse & analytics platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery). * Designing, building, and managing data pipelines using Spark, BigQuery, AWS EMR, and GCP Cloud Analytics. * Caching implementations (like Redis, Memcached, etc.). * Messaging platforms and stream data processing (like Kafka, Flink, Pub/Sub). * Data pipeline expectations framework experience (like Monte Carlo data, Great Expectations, Soda). * Working with containers (Docker, Kubernetes). * Observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack. * Collaboration tools like Miro (or Lucidchart), Jira and Confluence. * Nice to have expertise in Designing and maintaining Public APIs and data contracts. * Nice to have Security basics (e.g., OAuth2 standard). * Nice to have Foundational Amazon Cloud Services, like S3, CloudTrail, SQS, SNS, Lambda, API Gateway, ElasticCache, Athena, Kinesis, EKS, Cognito, and others. * Nice to have NoSQL databases knowledge (Druid, DynamoDB, SingleStore, or others). * Nice to have hands on experience with AI coding assistants and tools to help with coding and data analytics. * Must have legal right to work in the U.S. At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $156,400 to $225,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Responsibilities: * Design, build, and scale data pipelines across a variety of source systems and streams (internal, third-party, and cloud-based), distributed/elastic environments, and downstream applications and self-service solutions. * Deep understanding of Machine Learning best practices (e.g., training/serving, feature engineering, feature/model selection, imbalance data, RAG patterns) and algorithms (e.g., deep learnings, optimization) * Solid understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and architecture principles. * Implement appropriate design patterns while optimizing performance, cost, security, and scale and end-user experience. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and develop efficient data acquisition and integration strategies. * Interface with other technology teams to extract, load, and transform data from a wide variety of data sources using cloud-native data engineering principles. * Become a subject matter expert for data engineering-related technologies and designs. * Coach and guide others within the organization to build scalable pipelines based on foundational data engineering principles. * Participate in development sprints, demos, and retrospectives alongside releases and deployment. * Build and manage relationships with supporting engineering teams to deliver work products to production effectively. * Have worked well with data scientists, business analysts, and machine learning infrastructure to connect the dots between business and technology partners. * Develop automated tests for your code, ensuring every function, service, and object is compatible with your team's work and with the many systems within the NBCUniversal system portfolio and cross-device and browser compatibility. * Create documentation for developers and business users to help them understand our products. * Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team within a matrixed organization, leveraging strong interpersonal skills to navigate system complexities and deploy solutions efficiently. * Deploy to cloud-based platforms and troubleshoot application, cloud, and configuration issues when necessary. * Utilize tools for code & test generation to dramatically accelerate the delivery of features and components you create. Qualifications * 8+ years of experience in a data engineering role, with a strong emphasis on leading data engineering teams * Some working knowledge and curiosity about GenAI technologies, such as LLMs, vector databases, or AI-driven data pipelines. * Familiarity with the development ecosystem evolving around LLM integration, such as langchain. * Ability to think critically about problems, decipher user preferences versus challenging requirements, and effectively use online and onsite resources to find appropriate solutions. * Proven ability to thrive in an agile development environment, adept at incorporating feedback and adjusting to changing priorities. * Understanding REST-based APIs, vectorized embeddings, and other Retrieval Augmented Generation AI workload components. * Direct experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT development principles, cloud development, and data warehousing concepts * Knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, GCP * Knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles * Experience in building data pipelines using Python/SQL or similar programming languages. * General understanding of cloud data engineering design patterns and use cases * Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or related field.
