1978

1978 – Larry Miller opens his first Sit ‘n Sleep store selling futons imported from Japan in Culver City, CA.

1980

In 1980 father and son opened their first Sit ‘n Sleep store in Culver City.

1985

Sit 'n Sleep was founded in 1985 by Delores Patterson Carter and Jim Reid Carter.

1991

In 1991, the Los Angeles broadcast world was in a frenzy because New York City shock jock Howard Stern was bringing his controversial show to 97.1 FM. Stern was dogged by bad press for his raunchy radio show, but for advertisers he was a sought-after pitchman.

2007
