Computer aides are skilled professionals who are responsible for troubleshooting different computer software and hardware issues for computer users. These computer aides are required to assist customers with setting up and managing their accounts while advising them on how to perform maintenance tasks to prevent future problems. They must install computer software programs that can remove spyware, malware, and other viruses from computers. Computer aides should also possess skills in configuring computer hardware and accessories to keep systems running smoothly and properly.

The primary responsibility of a lab assistant is to help scientists and technologists. Lab assistants are assigned to prepare and monitor tests and experiments in research or medical laboratory. They analyze data and establish reports based on test results. Also, they set up the tools and equipment used in the lab. They do a variety of tasks that would help expose them more to the field they are doing their studies in. Graduate assistants help researchers by conducting interviews, testing research tools, encoding and analyzing data, creating presentation materials, and managing the research schedule. They help professors in preparing for lessons, creating and updating presentation materials, and even trying their hand in teaching the professor's students. They help university departments in administrative, clerical, research, and any other task that may be needed.

Faculty assistants, also known as teaching assistants, aid the primary instructor of an institution. They help the primary instructor map out learning strategies, prepare teaching aids, and distribute handouts. They also give feedback, evaluate learning plans, and assess students' progress. Faculty assistants must be organized, know basic first aid, be resourceful, be team-oriented, be able to multitask, and have a significant level of patience.

Work-study students are students who do part-time jobs to support their living and educational expenses. Usually, they offer their services in an organization related to their field of study. Work-study jobs are available either on or off-campus, depending on the student's application and the campus or employer's needs. They must be able to display excellent time-management skills to handle and balance work time and school responsibilities. A work-study student should also be fast-learner and open to constructive feedback to improve their job performance.
