Position Description Assemble rigging to lift and move equipment or material on construction project in a safe and timely manner with the highest quality possible. Job Responsibilities * Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved. * Position material prior to lift and determine weight of object. * Select proper rigging for the job such as cables, straps or chains and ensures they have been inspected and are in good working condition. * Attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceiling, and gin pole booms, with bolts and clamps. * Attach load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains to crane hook. * Give directions to crane operator or hoisting engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material hoisting equipment, using hand signals, loud speaker, two-way radio or telephone. * Set up, brace and rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power tools. * Work with erection team to complete the assigned tasks. * Ability to tie various knots. * Assemble and disassemble cranes. * Clean, maintain tools and inspect all equipment used in Rigging. * Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules. * Ability to interpret an Engineer's rigging plan * Other duties as assigned.
