Ace Hardware small engine technician job description

Duties The parts manager is responsible for managing the inventory of the parts department. They will order parts as necessary for use in-shop as well as for direct purchase by customers. Accuracy and attention to detail are a must. In consultation with the store manager, the parts manager will update pricing on parts as needed and add new parts to the in-store computer inventory system. The parts manager will interact with and be the primary point-of-contact for our small engine parts distributors. They will obtain and annually renew their service technician certifications with our warranty-level manufacturers. (On the job training is available through our distributors.) The parts manager will handle most of the customer interactions for the parts counter and shop. This includes looking up, ordering, and selling parts to customers; answering phone calls from customers looking for parts information and shop inquiries; and checking in equipment that is brought in for repair. Courtesy towards customers and careful listening are essential. The parts manager will be responsible for the handling of all warranty claims. This includes the accurate collection of information from the customer and the mechanic, and the timely filing of claims with the manufacturer. On an as needed basis, the parts manager/service tech will perform mechanic duties in the shop. This will be primarily during the busy seasons and when the mechanic is on vacation. They will be expected to develop a general understanding of all other areas of the store to direct and assist customers as needed.
Requirements

Qualifications (minimum) • 2-years prior small engine mechanic experience or education • Valid driver's license • Ability to lift 60 lbs • Strong computer skills • Mechanical aptitude • Excellent customer service skills Qualifications (preferred) • Associates degree in small engine repair • PartSmart (or related software) parts lookup experience • Manufacturer certifications from Briggs & Stratton, Honda, Kohler, MTD, or Echo (or willingness to earn) • Forklift certification$18.00-$20.00

The Position:

We're looking for a Small Engine Repair Technician responsible for inspecting, servicing, and performing routine engine maintenance. The Technician will also identify mechanical, electrical, and fuel system problems and make necessary repairs, repair or replace broken and defective parts, keep records of inspections, test results, work performed and parts used.
