    Job Title: Quality Assurance Supervisor Department: Maintenance/Quality Assurance Under the general supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Quality Assurance, the Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and evaluating transit vehicles, parts, facilities, and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with established safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This position plays a key role in ensuring that vehicles and equipment meet Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and agency-specific requirements before being placed into service. Duties and Responsibilities Conduct inspections of buses, paratransit vehicles, pool vehicles, and related equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications, safety standards, and transit agency requirements. Perform audits of maintenance and repair activities to verify adherence to preventive maintenance schedules, work orders, and quality standards. Inspect incoming materials, parts, and vendor-supplied services for conformance with purchase specifications. Document and report inspection findings, deficiencies, and corrective actions in a timely and accurate manner. Collaborate with maintenance, procurement, and operations staff to resolve quality issues. Verify compliance with federal, state, and local transit regulations (FTA, DOT, OSHA, EPA). Assist in developing and maintaining quality assurance programs, procedures, and inspection checklists. Participate in internal and external quality audits. Monitor warranty repairs to ensure work is completed according to contract requirements. Recommend process improvements to enhance vehicle reliability, safety, and service performance. Recommends appropriate discipline and retraining opportunities for supervisor and employees responsible for substandard work. Ensure adherence to safety practices and use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required, associate's degree in quality assurance, Transportation, Engineering, or related field preferred. 3-5 years of experience in vehicle inspection, maintenance, quality assurance, or compliance (transit industry experience strongly preferred). Familiarity with vehicle systems (diesel, hybrid, electric, or gasoline) and preventive maintenance practices. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and maintenance manuals. Knowledge of inspection tools, measuring devices, and diagnostic equipment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with staff, vendors, and regulatory agencies. Ability to enforce standards objectively while maintaining positive working relationships. Certifications (Preferred) ASE Certification in Transit Bus or Medium/Heavy Vehicle, preferred. ISO 9001 Quality Management or Six Sigma training. OSHA Safety Certification. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, climb, and bend for extended periods. Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Work indoors, outdoors, and in shop environments with exposure to noise, dust, and vehicle exhaust. Other Requirements Valid driver's license required; however, the ability to obtain CDL B with passenger endorsement is required. Develop and maintain emergency response, business continuity, and disaster recovery plans tailored to transit operations. Keeps records on repairs, cleaning, painting and ordering spare parts. Coordinates the repair of time devices, including master clock, time clocks, time stamps, and regular wall clocks. Provides effective interior and exterior lighting systems using preventative maintenance, repair, replacement, cleaning, upgrade and ordering parts for interior, exterior and emergency lights, ballasts, starters, lenses and fuses. Oversee the maintenance of SMART lawns, shrubbery, groundcovers, flowers, plants, and trees at all locations. Removes snow and ice from buildings, sidewalks, boarding locations, and driveways. Uses salts and chemicals to control buildups of snow and ice. Services and maintain equipment used in snow/ice removal. Repair/replace doors, gates, windows, glass, and facility appurtenances. Performs semiskilled plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry duties as may be associated with minor repairs or improvements to facilities. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities High school diploma or GED; technical/vocational training in building maintenance or related trade preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in facilities or maintenance work, preferably in a transit or public sector environment. Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Valid driver's license (CDL may be required depending on agency needs).
