Capable of working at a moving loading station. Monitors machine operation and settings, makes appropriate adjustments to ensure standards set by management are adhered to and to minimize/eliminate waste; contact supervisor to resolve difficulties beyond what incumbent is trained/authorized to handle. Understand and follow oral and written instructions Perform a task requiring continuous/repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching hands, flexing, and extending arms Stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift Work around animal blood and/or carcass parts Work with a knife (if trained) Work in cold areas (approximately 20-40 degrees) and/or warm areas (over 100 degrees) Work in an environment that is wet and humid Work while wearing a hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoes Work in a noisy environment using personal protective equipment (PPE) Work with sanitation/cleaning chemicals Work around strong smells/odors Climb/move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways and platforms Bend, stoop, and twist repetitively over the course of an entire shift Walk long distances This work is physically demanding and can require the use of some or all body parts and muscle groups. Some positions may require repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 lbs, single lifting of heavy objects which can weigh up to 60 lbs or lifting of objects using mechanical assistance. As a Hog Receiver, you'll play a hands-on role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and humane handling of livestock as they arrive at our facility. The packaging production line Machine Operator performs a variety of functions including but not limited to the operation of high speed packaging equipment, completion of daily production and/or QA paperwork. Ensures work is completed in a safe manner and within the quality parameters established. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES AND TASKS: Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows: Responsible for the safe operation of production lines to deliver a product that meets the customers' expectations. Complete the machine set up and shut down steps/procedures (Multivac (P3 & P9), Triangle (P1), Ulma (P7), Cryovac (P2), Scales (Multipond/Bilwinko), metal detectors, conveyors, tape machines, code daters and case erectors. Set machine to appropriate specifications as found in computer and specification book. Gather supplies needed for the specific line (Top and bottom film, zipper spools, labels, bags, and boxes) Confirm product on the schedule is correct and ready to run. Load and run film / bags on line. Change rolls of film / bags as needed throughout shift. Verify the line is running the correct meat type per product specifications as indicated by the Spec book. Inspect product on chill lines and racks. Verify materials are correct per product specifications. (Case labels, bag labels, boxes, inserts, pallets, etc.) by the Spec book. Ensures appropriate pattern and count is followed by packers and palletizer per Spec book. Reload materials as needed (zipper spools, top film, etc.) Perform and document weight, label, and integrity checks throughout shift. Verify Package and case label code dates. Verify product passing through metal detectors. Maintain productivity as per company standard (cases per hours, Tmax, etc.) Input/document required data into RedZone system (downtime, product UPC, quantity, etc.) Perform machine blowdown procedure during species changeover. Perform product changeovers. Must be cross trained to be able to operate all Pack Floor equipment. Open rework. Must be responsible for assigned radio and must follow proper radio etiquette. Follow GMPs, Safety and Quality Assurance rules and procedures. Must wear required PPE. Follow allergen control procedures. Ensure proper housekeeping throughout shift. Report any concerns to a member of management. Must be certified to operate any PIT. Must be LTT certified and follow all LTT procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.
