Core Responsibilities:
Warehouse Material Handler assists with all aspects of warehouse functions. Ensures work is completed in a safe manner and within the quality parameters established. This position requires problem solving responsibilities.
Receipt of materials into warehouse, including unloading trucks, product check-in with proper markings: Product Code, Count and Date Received, Lot Tags where applicable
Organization and put away of new receipts
Responsible for accurate documentation of material movement on BOLs, trailer load documents, packing lists, transfer lists: identification, count, signature and date.
Assist with receipt entry and processing
Assure accurate inventory counts of materials
Timely notification of package receipts for other departments and/or delivery to appropriate office location
Preparation and loading/unloading of Transfer Lists onto trailers for future production: Verifying correct product pulled, documenting lot information, signature and date on paperwork
Enter product transfers and adjustments
Housekeeping during and at end of shift
Assisting with inventory receipts and accuracy
Inventory placement and storage
Inventory verification
Working in non-climate-controlled warehouse conditions
Good housekeeping of warehouse and inventory locations
Walking and standing on concrete floors for long periods of time

Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience in Meat Industry is preferred, but not required
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. A minimum of 3 full months of documented experience as a certified fork lift/heavy lift driver will be accepted in lieu of a High School Diploma or GED.
Previous powered industrial truck (PIT) experience
Must obtain proper powered industrial truck (PIT) certification during initial training phase
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Understand and follow both written and verbal instructions
Perform basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all measures, whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Attention to detail and good communication skills, both verbal and written
Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office

Your Opportunity
Responsible for the training and skill development of hourly new hire employees, including, but not limited to, the development of knife techniques to include sharpening and maintenance of sharpening tools. Will work most of the time on the production floor coaching and assisting new employees in learning production jobs after they are hired and to assist with training on the job with employees have moved positions through the job bidding process. On the Job trainers will be responsible for some job specific training that may include knife sharpening techniques, and other job specific knowledge required for an employee to learn their assigned position with the company. Will work with Supervision and Training Supervisor to ensure tracking documents are in place to best identify those needing additional training.
Core Responsibilities
Trains hourly new hire production employees on skill development and job requirements.
Observes the production line to ensure appropriate job techniques and logs daily work.
Corrects and retrains employees exhibiting inadequate skills and behavior that is contrary to job requirements and correct job techniques.
Assists Training Specialist and Supervisor with, progress reports; job bid qualifications; and identifying trends involving employees, tools, or jobs/tasks. For example, employees having the most difficulty maintaining a sharp cutting tool, or being able to perform assigned job requirements.
Communicates training needs with area supervisors.
Accurately documents required training attendance.
Audits M-IQ tier meetings, utilizes LSW leader standard work to prioritize daily work.
Assist in on-boarding of new employees by leading tours and distributing and train on appropriate PPE use.
Ability to rotate to different shifts based on production needs
Ability to travel to other facilities to assist with new start-up projects

The Maintenance Technician has responsibilities to maintain, troubleshoot and repair a variety of electrical and mechanical equipment in a food processing environment. This position requires proficiency in multiple skill clusters, such as electrical controls, fluid power, mechanical systems, welding, fabrication and manufacturing processes. This person will perform medium to high-level machine systems troubleshooting and repair and provide technical support for all phases of the operation. This work will be of average to considerable difficulty in the accomplishment of a variety of mechanical maintenance actions.
Core Responsibilities
Receives work order/request, reviews to determine tools, equipment, time, manpower, parts, and supplies needed.
When responding to crisis calls will always arrive at the scene with basic tools and equipment necessary to perform work.
Read blueprints, schematics (including electrical), wiring diagrams, technical manuals, etc.
Maintains various activity records and logs.
Observe equipment or machinery while in operation to detect malfunctions.
Disassemble mechanical equipment, identify faulty/worn parts, replace, reassemble, and test.
Test major subsystems or components to localize problem using specialized equipment.
Fabricate replacement parts which may require welding, cutting, or sheet metal work.
Perform preventive maintenance on various mechanical systems and equipment. Install new equipment/appliances including utilities (i.e., electrical, water, gas, or drain lines).
Responsibilities include installing, trouble shooting, and maintaining, mechanical equipment, piping systems, electrical controls/components in accordance with manufacturer's specification, local regulations and Smithfield safety policies.
Performs preventive and predictive maintenance schedules on mechanical equipment such as pumps, packaging and slicing equipment, harvest and cutting equipment used in manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge and skills in operating a variety of small hand tools and devices used in general mechanical maintenance operations

Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment; or 4 years' direct experience in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance environment.
Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma or associate degree from a technical maintenance or vocational school. (Preferred).
Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.
Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift or scissor lift or other powered industrial trucks (PIT).
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to read and execute work order, write daily reports, and translate equipment manuals.
