Your Impact (Responsibilities)
Advocacy: Represent the best interests of youth at court hearings, school meetings, and child/family team meetings.
Mentorship: Provide weekly direct casework services, building relationships with the youth on your caseload.
Planning: Develop and implement treatment plans and conduct intake studies to ensure every child receives the right level of care.
Coordination: Arrange monthly family visits, monitor educational progress and school attendance, and coordinate medical and therapeutic services.
Documentation: Maintain precise, up-to-date case records and prepare monthly progress reports for families and referring agencies.

Education: A Bachelors degree in Behavioral Sciences (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology) or Education is required.*

The Certified Teacher at AELC (Alpha Educational Learning Center) plays a crucial role in transforming the lives of at-risk youth, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and support systems needed to overcome gaps in their education. This role requires teacher certification in Tennessee and a deep commitment to supporting the needs of at-risk students. Teachers contribute to fostering a nurturing, inclusive environment conducive to the specialized needs (including special education needs) of the students and the school milieu. They implement evidence-based resources from a trauma-informed approach in the therapeutic education milieu.
FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the strategic vision and leadership for AELC, promoting a culture of excellence and inclusion in alignment with the overall vision for the residential program and SMCH.
Collaborates with the Residential Director and AELC Principal in the trauma-informed, evidence-based model of care.
Provides students with regular prompts, adequate supervision, tutoring support, teacher engagement, and other types of support for a special education setting.
Maintains compliance with DOE, DCS, and accreditation regulations for AELC, including student-to-teacher ratio.
Document student progress and advocate for student needs to include conducting education conferences, interventions for the student, and attending other professional meetings as needed.
Implements instructional practices for instruction and RTI.
Participates in 1:1 supervision meetings and AELC team meetings in accordance with protocol and documentation standards.
Conducts stand-up instruction as needed and supports student engagement on computer-based learning experiences.
Attends in-service workshops and professional conferences as required or as needed to maintain professional teacher certification in TN and annual training requirements. Maintaining certification is the responsibility of the teacher, including identifying appropriate training for ongoing certification.
Supports the year-round school calendar at SMCH, making responsible accommodations for all youth in care.
Provides adequate planning to support an active and educational summer school program and programming during other public school breaks.
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Residential Director or Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a certified teacher (Bachelor's Degree minimum) in the state of Tennessee.
Must have taught in public and/or private schools or a special education setting for a minimum of 1 year, preferred.
Demonstrate competency per state-mandated evaluation standards.
Must be able to collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of teachers, counselors, therapists, and community stakeholders, collaborating to provide a holistic, wrap-around approach to student success.
Must possess a teachable spirit and be willing to work as a team with supportive leadership qualities.
Must be familiar with using a computer/computer-based learning and familiar with the Google platform (Google Drive, Gmail, Sheets, etc.), and willing to learn software as needed.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Function - Teacher's Aide
Oversees the education of students in the classroom.
Maintains all student attendance records.
Reports all entrance and exit dates and emails then to the appropriate persons.
Prepares all behavior logs and emails them to the appropriate persons
Communicates with campus staff as directed by the AELC Principal.
Tracks students' progress and advocates for academic interventions.
Maintains a therapeutic learning environment using TCI techniques and trauma-informed practices.
Performs PLATO entries/class grouping.
Any other duty as requested by the AELC Principal and/or Residential Director.
Secondary Function - Direct Care Worker
Provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support to adolescent youth.
Model and encourage positive attitudes and behaviors.
Help teach social and independent living life skills, including coping mechanisms.
Ensure the safety of every youth.
Prepare healthy meals if needed.
Provide routine and structure in a home environment.
Help youth develop healthy relationships with family and friends.
Perform and supervise household chores as needed.
Supervise and assist with homework and school activities.
Assist youth in achieving their program plan and permanency goals.
Plan and supervise social events and activities.
Encourage the spiritual growth of each resident.
Provide oversight of the cottage, grounds, and equipment.

The Certified Teacher at AELC (Alpha Educational Learning Center) plays a crucial role in transforming the lives of at-risk youth, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and support systems needed to overcome gaps in their education. This role requires teacher certification in Tennessee and a deep commitment to supporting the needs of at-risk students. Teachers contribute to fostering a nurturing, inclusive environment conducive to the specialized needs (including special education needs) of the students and the school milieu. They implement evidence-based resources from a trauma-informed approach in the therapeutic education milieu.
FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the strategic vision and leadership for AELC, promoting a culture of excellence and inclusion in alignment with the overall vision for the residential program and SMCH.
Collaborates with the Residential Director and AELC Principal in the trauma-informed, evidence-based model of care.
Provides students with regular prompts, adequate supervision, tutoring support, teacher engagement, and other types of support for a special education setting.
Maintains compliance with DOE, DCS, and accreditation regulations for AELC, including student-to-teacher ratio.
Document student progress and advocate for student needs to include conducting education conferences, interventions for the student, and attending other professional meetings as needed.
Implements instructional practices for instruction and RTI.
Participates in 1:1 supervision meetings and AELC team meetings in accordance with protocol and documentation standards.
Conducts stand-up instruction as needed and supports student engagement on computer-based learning experiences.
Attends in-service workshops and professional conferences as required or as needed to maintain professional teacher certification in TN and annual training requirements. Maintaining certification is the responsibility of the teacher, including identifying appropriate training for ongoing certification.
Supports the year-round school calendar at SMCH, making responsible accommodations for all youth in care.
Provides adequate planning to support an active and educational summer school program and programming during other public school breaks.
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Residential Director or Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a certified teacher (Bachelor's Degree minimum) in the state of Tennessee.
Must have taught in public and/or private schools or a special education setting for a minimum of 1 year, preferred.
Demonstrate competency per state-mandated evaluation standards.
Must be able to collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of teachers, counselors, therapists, and community stakeholders, collaborating to provide a holistic, wrap-around approach to student success.

Responsibilities:
Prepare a written intake study to help determine the appropriateness of care.
Provide weekly casework services for each youth on caseload.
Participate in the planning and implementation of plan treatment.

Attend court and school meetings, child and family team meetings, and any other type of meeting or staffing deemed necessary.
Set up case record on each child and see that it is kept up-to-date with necessary forms, reports, and narrative summaries.
Prepare monthly progress reports for family or referring agency.
Monitor youth's school attendance and progress.
Arrange monthly family visits.
Attend all staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
Position Requirements:
Must have a minimum of a bachelors degree in social work or a related field (i.e. education, psychology, etc.).*
Bilingual in Spanish/English is preferred.
Must be able to work as a team member and accept supervision.
Must be able to pass a drug test and extensive background checks.
Must be physically capable of performing all job duties including sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 40lbs.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills with a caring approach.

What you will do
Performs routine respiratory therapy procedures including IPPB, O2 therapy, and humidity/aerosol therapy in an assigned area on patients.
Establishes and maintains ventilation and airway care for assigned patients and provides ventilatory support to patients receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Performs advanced respiratory care techniques, including but not limited to: invasive pressure monitoring, including ICP, pulmonary artery catheters, cardiac output determinations, administration of Nitric Oxide, and other gases. Assists physician in insertion of catheters as needed. Performs arterial blood gas collection through line draws or punctures.
Performs patient assessment and reassessment through observation of the patient, clinical data gathering, response to therapy and reports findings accurately making referrals to appropriate disciplines as needed.
Provides educational development through guidance and teaching and serves as a technical resource person to the patient, patient's family, physician, students and other hospital staff regarding respiratory care procedures.
Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors and performs preventative and routine maintenance on respiratory care equipment and instruments.
Participates in departmental/hospital continuous improvement opportunities.
