In 1999, entrepreneur Mike Rothman started a floor care business.
In 2003, he left to start SMS.
In 2005 SMS Assist won its first floor care customer.
In 2008, to support more locations, SMS Assist started building a national network of floor care providers.
In 2008, a close friend invested $2 million, and several years later, he received his first infusions of capital from institutional investors, the Huizenga Group and Pritzker Venture Capital Group.
Mike’s vision for more visibility in the field was brought to life with the launch of a mobile app in 2013.
SMS Assist achieved unicorn status—a private company valued at more than $1 billion—in 2016, thanks to a Series D $150 million investment from Goldman Sachs Investment Partners.
The launch of SMS Assist’s integrated platform, One by SMS Assist, followed in 2016.
