Acara Solutions is looking for a 2nd Shift SMT Operator for our Client located in Clearwater, FL

• Operates surface mount technology (SMT) automatic assembly equipment to produce high quality complex printed circuit board assemblies.
• Responsible for set-up, operations and routine maintenance.
• Manually or using semi-automatic equipment screen print solder paste.
• Operate adhesive dispensing equipment.
• Loads components supplied in tubes or reels onto feeders, and loads feeders onto placement equipment.
• Hand place some SMT components.
• Place assembled printed circuit boards into solder reflow ovens.
• Use standard electronic hand tools (solder, flux and adhesive).
• Utilize drawings, visual aides and other instructions to identify defects.

Pay and Benefits:

• The pay rate for this position is between $20.00 and $23.00 per hour .

Required Skills / Qualifications:

• At least a Bachelor's degree
• Minimum of 2 years' experience operating Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Equipment
• Minimum of 2 years' experience Reading Engineering Drawings

We are seeking a full-time SMT Machine Operator (1st Shift) for our location in the greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling surface mount technology (SMT) electronic sub-assemblies using robotic machines .
Essential Functions

+ Learn and apply basic skills for becoming a certified SMT Machine Operator by completing written training objectives and demonstrating proficiency

+ Tend machines by quickly and efficiently loading/replenishing feeders with reels of components, entering programs into automated placement machinery, setting up support fixtures, and prepping multiple assembly lines for next shop order to maximize machine productive time Read shop orders, follow production work instruction and sample assemblies, and receive verbal or written instructions regarding duties to be performed

+ Provide daily status and process communications via e-mail to SMT Machine Operators on other shifts, Production Management and Process Engineering

+ Position, align, and hand-place components in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture or conveyance during sequential assembly of printed circuit boards

+ Collect quality data which is essential for continuous improvement and tracking of factory deliverables

+ Perform operator level preventive maintenance on machines, per Garmin requirements

+ Troubleshooting component placement and machine issues that are commensurate with associate's level of expertise, training, and latitude provided by Process Engineering

+ Mount components such as transformers, resistors, capacitors, integrated circuits and sockets on chassis, panel or printed circuit board

+ Adapt to changing priorities and react/recover responsibly and maintain acceptable organization/cleanliness in work area with proper/effective shift turnover and identify all material properly

+ Must possess the ability to bend, twist and lift up to 30 pounds while using safe lifting techniques, standing for an entire shift and walking long distances throughout the facility

+ Must possess a high degree of dexterity and eye coordination, to allow manipulation of buttons, switches, hand tools and knobs on delicate equipment, products and parts

+ Must demonstrate the ability to routinely read numbers and differentiate between similar numbers in Garmin's part numbering system

Basic Qualifications

+ High School Diploma or GED

+ Must possess previous machine operation experience or related production or equipment control experience

+ Must demonstrate the ability to routinely read numbers and differentiate between similar numbers in Garmin's part numbering system

+ Must demonstrate the ability to navigate in basic computer applications such as MS Windows

+ Must demonstrate the ability to learn to navigate in specific computer applications such as Oracle and Fuji Cam

+ Must possess a high degree of dexterity and eye coordination, to allow manipulation of buttons, switches, hand tools and knobs on delicate equipment, products and parts

+ Must have a mechanical aptitude with an attention to detail for operating machinery

+ Must possess the ability to bend, twist and lift up to 30 pounds while using safe lifting techniques, standing for an entire shift and walking long distances throughout the facility

Desired Qualifications

+ 2+ years assembly experience

+ Pervious SMT Operator experience

+ Previous electronics manufacturing experience

+ Soldering skills (certificate desirable)

+ Previous experience in a manufacturing environment utilizing automated techniques to install Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Through-hole Technology (THT) components

+ Previous knowledge/use of IPC-A-610, Acceptance of Electronic Assemblies, workmanship standards

Job Summary & Essential Functions

Build surface mount (SMT) and Mixed Technology printed circuit board assemblies, placing components on boards per controlled parts lists, drawing documentation and quality workmanship guidelines.

• Setup and operate assigned production equipment, using both automated equipment and manual placement, while achieving goals for quality, efficiency and productivity
• Monitor the operation of equipment to ensure that assemblies are built to print and in compliance with applicable workmanship standards
• Ensure that equipment and processes remain within acceptable parameters through quality audits, monitoring and troubleshooting
• Adjust machines or processes to correct problems
• Assist with rework, hand soldering and advanced troubleshooting
• Maintain necessary logs and records
• Inspect printed solder paste and component alignment for accuracy
• Understand and identify defects in accordance with applicable workmanship standard and class
• Perform daily machine maintenance activities for assigned production equipment as specified on the Preventive Maintenance schedules
• Perform manual placement of SMT and PIH components
• Load feeders for equipment and wash boards as needed

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job orders, specifications, drawings, schematics, process sheets, wiring diagrams, and small print
• Intermediate level in MS Office applications (Word and Excel)
• Basic understanding of SMT theories (i.e., reflow profiling, screen printing defects, etc.)
• Ability to read and understand load plans
• Advanced component identification skills
• Recognize and identify the different types of solder paste and their applications
• Use a variety of hand tools, including calipers
• Mechanical ability to troubleshoot and correct mechanical problems with assigned production equipment
