The Role
Proofpoint is looking for a self-starting, responsible, mature, highly-motivated Sales EngineeringManager to lead a team of talented Sales Engineers.
The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background in email security and prior experience managing technical sales teams. An ability to “lead from the front” and a willingness to act as both player and coach to help your team secure the technical win will be key to your success.
This is a remote position. Candidates should be located in the Western U.S.
Your day-to-day
Oversee the day-to-day operations of your team of Sales Engineers
Resource management - assign projects, accounts, and meetings to sales engineers as required, and resolve scheduling conflicts
Work as an individual contributor for key accounts as needed or requested
Participate in technical sales calls, and contribute to creating sales and evaluation strategy at the account level.
Engage directly with customers in technical or sales escalations, and drive issues to resolution.
Provide technical leadership and product expertise to the team as well as the larger sales organization.

Act as a trusted advisor to higher level management on strategic opportunity reviews, emerging competitive threats, product direction, and establishing sales objectives and strategies
Requirements
7-10 years of experience in sales engineering
Prior management experience
Technical background in messaging and security
Experience with both Linux and Windows
A thorough background of Internet protocols and how they work (HTTP, SMTP, etc.)
Knowledge of networking topology, TCP/IP protocol, and network configuration and components (firewalls, routers, load balancers, etc.)
CISSP and related certifications are a plus
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Travel is required

The Senior Director, Engineering is accountable for the engineering execution and technical outcomes that enables Coates' North American product and client roadmaps. Duties and Responsibilities Leadership
Act as a trusted technical advisor to engineers, program teams, and leadership.
Ensure engineering team skills and qualifications align with contract requirements.
Collaborate with organizational leaders to ensure engineering resources effectively support client contracts (skills, availability, etc.).
Support talent processes including recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training.
Coach and mentor engineers, partnering with Directors to plan for future development needs.
Make sound decisions quickly, even in uncertain situations, and guide others to do the same.
Model accountability, taking ownership of your work and holding team members to the same standard.
Continuous improvement
Promote ongoing education (internal and external) to keep the engineering team current and a reliable resource on emerging technologies.
Facilitate technical working groups to share best practices, tools, and innovations across the engineering function.
Encourage continuous improvement, including updating standard tools and refining processes to reduce inefficiencies.
Research cost-effective technologies that maintain technical accuracy and improve operational efficiency.

Review and approve measurement and verification (M&V) plans as needed.

Qualifications
Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, mechanical, electrical, building science, or similar
Minimum 12 years of experience within energy efficiency, building efficiency industry, demand management, or energy management
At least 5 years of leadership experience
At least 5 years of hands‑on engineering experience in an individual contributor role
Excellent attention to detail, writing, interpersonal, training and analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to manage teams, clients, and time effectively, consistently meeting deadlines and anticipating potential challenges.
Exceptional communication skills-listening, oral, written, and presentations-paired with strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities and ability to influence outcomes through clear, data‑supported dialogue with clients and third parties.
Proven expertise in energy calculations and analysis tools and methods
Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office, Excel, and other cloud‑based computing platforms
Willingness to travel
Preferred skills or experience
P.E. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with additional certifications in energy (e.g., CEA, CEM, CBCP, CDSM, CMVP, CP EnMS)
Technical expertise in energy auditing and retro‑commissioning, with practical experience applying these methods to improve building performance and efficiency.
Experience working with mechanical and electrical contractors
Hands‑on experience with mechanical, electrical, and control systems
High level technical skill with mechanical/electrical systems coupled with a strong knowledge of building controls systems/software‑based monitoring platforms, energy management, and commissioning processes with the ability to run deep analytics and develop insights
Demonstrated proficiency with energy modeling platforms and software

Compensation & Benefits
Resource Innovations offers competitive salaries based on a candidate's skills, experience and qualifications for the position. The compensation range for the base salary for this position is $140,000 - $190,000. In addition to base pay, employees are eligible for a discretionary annual bonus. The stated salary represents the expected compensation for this position. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate's experience, education and location.
We also offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes three weeks of paid vacation per year; paid holidays; a 401(k)-retirement plan with employer matching; health, dental and vision insurance; and other supplemental benefits.

Position Summary:

Key Position Accountabilities:

Lead efforts to research and implement new testing methods, equipment, and techniques to enhance product testing capabilities.
Participates in the development of new products and supports the timely fabrication and testing of designs.
Leads the creation of new processes and procedures, contributing to teams of varied technical disciplines, and ensuring efficient process documentation (SOPs, travelers, etc.).
Collaborate with design teams to develop innovative approaches that optimize product design trade-offs, including cost, performance, and time to market.
Provides leadership and oversight to day-to-day Process Engineering support across the company (Engineering, Product Development, Test Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Product Assurance), focusing on improving processes and resolving production issues.
Lead failure analysis investigations of in-house and customer-returned products. Collaborate with other engineering teams to make data-driven recommendations that improve product quality and reduce the likelihood of failures.
Manages the development and execution of project plans , including resource allocation and schedule oversight, ensuring the timely and successful introduction of new processes and test technologies in alignment with company objectives.
Propose and champion the implementation of new methods, capital equipment, technologies, and processes to enhance product performance and operational efficiency.

Secondary Duties:
Participate in technical meetings with standards organizations, ensuring alignment with DDC's strategic goals.

Lead vendor selection for major design projects, considering technical performance, risk, and cost.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Applied Sciences required; Graduate degree and previous leadership training is desirable.
Experience: 7+ years of relevant engineering experience, with a focus on test or process engineering and manufacturing support; and 2+ years' experience as a supervisor, lead engineer or seniorengineer.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of MIL STDs 883, MIL-PRF 38534, 38510, IPC 610 (desirable).
Proven expertise in designing, optimizing, and implementing test systems, fixtures, and software.
Strong knowledge of test equipment, failure analysis techniques, and process improvement strategies
Familiarity with all aspect of Electronics manufacturing including Hybrid and PCB manufacturing.
Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor engineers, and manage complex engineering projects.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to a wide range of audiences.
Additional Skills:

The Role

Your day-to-day
Oversee the day-to-day operations of your team of Sales Engineers
