**Position Responsibilities**
+ Assist in the design of mechanical components and systems, including airframes, payload enclosures, ground equipment, launch systems, and electro-mechanical assemblies
+ Create and modify 3D CAD models and assemblies using **SolidWorks**
+ Support simulation and analysis tasks using tools like **SolidWorks Simulation** or **ANSYS**
+ Participate in prototype fabrication, assembly, and testing using in-house tools and rapid prototyping methods (e.g., 3D printing)
+ Help generate technical drawings and bills of materials in accordance with industry drafting standards
+ Collaborate with engineers to support design reviews, testing activities, and integration of mechanical systems
+ Contribute to documentation and reporting of design progress and test results
+ Learn and assist in configuration control and engineering change processes
+ Perform other tasks as assigned to support ongoing development efforts
**Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)**
+ Currently pursuing a **Bachelor's degree** in **Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering** , or a related field
+ Basic experience with 3D CAD software (preferably **SolidWorks** )
+ Familiarity with mechanical components such as machined parts, sheet metal, plastic parts, or composite materials
+ Exposure to hands-on prototyping, lab testing, or mechanical assembly through academic or personal projects

This supervised position will allow for a college student who is seeking a career in the power industry to apply as well as enhance their knowledge with regard to all aspects power plant operation. This position will require the individual to work a normal day shift as well as rotating shift when required. Reports to Plant Manager.
Job Responsibilities
Assist Plant shift operations including local starting and stopping of equipment.
Assist in Maintain shift operating logs and records when required.
Read and record gauges and meters when required.
Assist while under direct supervision by a qualified Calpine Employee with mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks, inspections, and troubleshooting.
Assist in development of standard procedures for operations.
Assist with the requisition spare parts inventory for plant equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned while under the direct supervision of a Calpine employee.
Report to and take day-to-day instructions, both written and verbal, from the Plant Operator A, Plant Manager and Operations Manager

Job Requirements

Summary
As an Autonomy & Robotics Engineering Intern, you will work alongside a team of skilled engineers to support the development of autonomous behaviors, machine perception, and robotic control systems for unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and other advanced platforms. You'll gain experience in algorithm development, simulation, and integration on real hardware in a fast-paced, collaborative R&D environment.
This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to cutting-edge autonomy applications, with mentorship and support from senior engineers.
Position Responsibilities
Assist in the design, implementation, and testing of algorithms related to:
Computer vision, object tracking, and target detection
Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) integrated with visual sensors
State estimation using inertial and visual data
Autonomous behavior modeling (e.g., finite-state machines, behavior trees)
Path planning and multi-vehicle coordination
Support the development and debugging of autonomy software on simulation platforms and real hardware
Collaborate with teammates on testing, data collection, and experimental design
Participate in code reviews and integration efforts across multidisciplinary teams

Job Summary
Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated, multi-skilled intern with experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling, heat transfer and validation. This role will be part of the Modeling and Simulation CFD team which supports methodology development, engineering design, and testing programs for the KP-FHR and associated components through thermal-hydraulic analysis, with a specialization in CFD. This role will perform CFD validation benchmarking to further develop modeling methodologies. This will include building CFD models of test facilities, running and post processing the simulations for test conditions, organization and performing test data analysis, performing benchmark comparisons, and supporting the development and maturation of CFD methodologies. The position requires a strong self-starting mentality and the ability to develop and deploy novel solutions in support of the company mission.
Responsibilities
Develop CFD models of high-temperature test systems, modeling heat transfer, natural convection, radiation, melting and fluid flow.
Perform validation of CFD with in-house produced experiment data.
Collaborate with test and facility operations engineers in the production and post processing of test data to be used for CFD model validation.
Mature, document and recommend improvements to CFD modeling methodologies based on validation results.
Develop and maintain automation scripts that take inputs from various sources, perform post-processing analyses of input data, and generate applicable report files.
Present validation results and CFD modeling methodology findings through technical documents and oral presentations.
Collaborate with and communicate results to various teams, including Reactor Systems Design, Core Design, CFD, Safety Analysis, and Testing teams.

Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a BS, MS, or PhD program in Nuclear, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
Experience using analytical and CFD tools to perform fluid and conjugate heat transfer analyses
2+ years using commercial CFD tools; experience with Siemens STAR-CCM+ is preferred
Experience with Solidworks or STAR-CCM+ 3D CAD is preferred
Familiarity with high temperature simulations modeling natural convection and radiation is preferred

What You'll Do Day-To-Day
Compiles and computes a variety of engineering data, analyzes test and design data.
Develops and prepares schematics, designs, specifications, parts lists and reviews designs and specifications for adequacy.
Selects computer programs best suited to process data required in making a variety of engineering analyses and assists in the development of new programs to meet changing requirements.
Assists in the training of others and reviews work assigned to them.
Performs other complicated technical tasks in the performance of their duties following general instructions and exercising initiative and selecting methods to be used to obtain desired results.
Performs analysis to check applicability, accuracy of data.
Extracts and compiles engineering data, processes computer data using specified formulas and procedures.
Writes project status reports and/or publishes test results.
Assists project engineers or take the lead in smaller projects on design, procurement, fabrication, installation, and startup.
Assists plant and maintenance engineers or take the lead in special areas involving equipment repair troubleshooting, instrumentation and preventive maintenance procedures, spare parts, and dealing with vendors.
Proposes process and manufacturing improvements and may take the lead in implementing them.
May perform CAD (computer aided design) design.
Performs job duties in a safe manner.

What You'll Bring
High School diploma or equivalent education.
Minimum of 7 years of related experience.
Advanced knowledge of commonly-used concepts, standards and equipment.
Technical experience with equipment, processes and control systems used in plants.
Knowledgeable of project engineering practices and selected electrical, mechanical and chemical equipment applications, equipment and processes.
Ability to generate CAD drawings, if applicable and using standard software.
May require familiarity with corporate drafting standards.
Ability to interpret drawings.
Familiarity with codes and standards pertaining to the applicable discipline.
Advanced communication skills to comprehend, follow direction and convey detailed technical data.
Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships; work collaboratively within a team environment.
Experience with multi-discipline projects and technical integration of engineering deliverables.
Familiarity with welding and machining activities.
Experience with design, fabrication and repair of primary system components at nuclear power plants.
Familiarity with configuration management of a system design, systems engineering, or experience in plant operations.

Salary: $33.80 - $44.30, and may also include annual incentives and performance bonuses. The base salary range is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
