This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week. **Location based in:** San Jose, CA or Newark, DE**Roles and Responsibilities:*** Create electrical installation packages that detail how fuel cells will be installed at a customer's facility, adhering to the National Electric Code (NEC) and local jurisdiction requirements as needed.* Work closely with the remote engineering and drafting teams to support the initial design creation and AutoCAD drafting.* Design microgrids with fuel cell generation to ensure the physical installation meets all product specifications and the customers' needs.* Communicate engineering and technical data effectively by implementing project milestones through collaboration.* Provide technical support while working with 3rd party microgrid controllers.* Create Sequence of Operations to state how the fuel cells will transfer from paralleling with the utility to microgrid (island) operation.* Responsible for ensuring the electrical designs conform to specifications required for the implementation of Bloom Energy fuel cell systems.* Perform and review power systems studies that include, voltage drop, short-circuit, coordination, and Arc Flash.* Responsible for reviewing 3rd party designs and custom equipment solutions. Produce project specific drawings and documents as needed.* Support the Supply Chain Team by reviewing electrical equipment packages and ensuring they meet Bloom's specifications.* Interface directly with external parties as needed. Build detailed schematics, select components, PCBA layout, prototype, and validate hardware. Apply EMI/EMC strategies and underlying physics to engineering problems. Utilize expertise in design and validation of gate drivers, power stages, magnetics, and controls. Conduct modeling and detailed simulation of inverters. Own the design and build a fully functioning inverter autonomously. Perform circuit formal analysis, e.g., de-rating and worst-case circuit analysis. Optimize loss, efficiency, and conduct thermal analysis of the inverter. Required Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, specializing in power electronics. 8+ years of design experience designing high voltage and high power electronics. Desired Skills and Qualifications: Expert with high voltage power semiconductor selection (Si/SiC/GaN, IGBT, Diodes, MOSFETs), gate driver, and protection circuit design. Strong understanding of different PWM switching techniques, DPWM, ZCS, ZVS. Expert with at least one of the common power electronics tools such as PLECS, PSCAD, dSPICE, PSIM, or Simplorer. Solid understanding of capacitor and super-capacitor design and selection, such as electrolytic, film, ceramic, and tantalum. Proficiency in EMI/EMC filter design for stability, noise rejection, and surviving threat signals. Startup experience or ability to work in a fast-paced development environment. Demonstrated experience in embedded programming with C/C++. Additional Requirements Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to accomplish our mission.
