Responsibilities
This is a key role in a growing service segment of our firm. The successful candidate will enjoy the flexibility to create their day-to-day schedules and fully develop this role within our team.
Projects, both local and non-local, will be mobilized from our Ankeny, Iowa office and include tasks such as communication between team sectors, project planning, and management, supervising cultural resource inventories, assisting in compliance with various cultural resource-related laws and regulations, and writing and reviewing reports. A successful applicant will be independently motivated and organized.
Qualifications
Master's degree, or higher, in Archaeology or a closely related field.
Registered Professional Archaeologist preferred.
6 years of archaeological consulting or agency experience in the Midwest
Proficient in Microsoft Office and ArcGIS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience independently preparing complex technical documents for various cultural resources projects.
Ability to manage and organize multiple projects at the same time.
Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments as needed.
Willingness and ability to perform field tasks and oversight.
Must be knowledgeable of federal cultural resources regulations and midwestern US state regulations.

Strong interpersonal and proactive communication skills.

Experience with Del-Tek VantagePoint, OpenAsset, Bluebeam, CoPilot AI, PowerPoint, and Excel platforms are a plus but not required.

Shive-Hattery's Iowa City office has an immediate opportunity for a new graduate or early career Structural Engineer in Training with 0 to 3 years of experience. This opportunity is a full-time position for a motivated individual with the ability to work and learn with the goal of acquiring a Professional Engineer license in Iowa.
With the support of the Group Leader and the Structural Engineers in this location, this position assists on a variety of design projects across the private and public sectors.
Responsibilities
Assists more senior engineers with entry-level structural engineering projects.
Assists with design for higher education and healthcare projects of various sizes with the main focus on higher education utility projects.
Works with experienced engineers and technicians within multi-discipline teams. The majority of efforts will focus on our long-standing Higher Education clients who we work with locally and across the Midwest.
Works on multiple projects simultaneously
Manages shop drawing reviews
Assists with performing onsite construction administration and construction observation services including reporting and monitoring contractor's compliance with contract documents.

What You'll Bring
Education: Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an accredited school
Experience: new graduate or early career Design Professional with 0 to 3 years; Internships/summer experience in engineering or construction a plus
License/Certification: Have taken and passed, or intent to take, the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
Structural design experience using concrete, steel, and masonry; strong interest in concrete design would be a plus
Collaborates with multi-discipline team members and has good interpersonal skills
Manages time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing work with good attention to detail
Possesses good oral and written communication skills
Practical experience using Revit, 3D software (Navisworks/Recap), structural engineering design software, and Microsoft Office software is preferred
Must be able to drive and have access to an automobile, climb ladders, work off of elevated platforms and open grating, work in underground tunnels, and wear personal protective equipment required for specific clients and sites
Must be able to pass drug screening tests and background screening, which are both required for some client sites.

Snyder & Associates is looking to fill Intern and Co-Op positions in Northern, Central, Eastern and Western Iowa and Madison, Wisconsin for the Summer and Fall of 2025. The project work for these roles will be related to a thriving construction season for our clients in these regions. For the right intern or co-op, there will be much to do and much to learn.
Responsibilities
Interns and coops at Snyder & Associates will take on specific assignments from engineers, project managers and/or work group leaders. The majority of their time will be spent observing / inspecting active construction work on-site and reporting / communicating to project managers regarding status and progress of construction. There may also be opportunities to assist in project plan design, development, and/or land surveying.
Qualifications
Full-time college student majoring in civil or construction engineering. Must have strong work ethic, demonstrated desire to learn from hands-on experiences working in a team. Must possess strong communication skills, ability to work on a team and as an individual contributor. Able to manage activity through competing priorities. Must be reliable i.e. punctual, attentive to assigned responsibilities. This can be a very client-centric role - must have strong people skills and ability to effectively manage relationships with a wide range of clients, contractors and other project stakeholders. Any prior experience with construction or prior internships in civil engineering or construction engineering is a plus. Any construction materials or DOT-related certifications a plus.
