Duties Include:
Curriculum delivery: Design lessons and practicums that adhere to the USCG-approved AB-Limited curriculum.
Instruction and Training: Teach classes, lead practical exercises, and oversee hands-on training sessions supporting the curriculum.
Manage and mentor seamanship students, ensuring quality and adherence to curriculum guidelines.
Deck Instructors serve as operating crew when training students underway on our training vessels. Instructors serve as Mates, Boatswains, and Deckhands while teaching students on the Columbia River and Pacific Ocean.
Student Assessment: Evaluate student progress, provide feedback, and conduct assessments to ensure competency in maritime skills.
Laboratory and Workshop Maintenance: This position supports the maintenance, safety, and availability of lab equipment, simulators, and AB-Limited program workshops.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure all training and facilities comply with maritime regulatory standards and safety protocols.
Professional Development: Stay current with industry practices, update certifications, and participate in ongoing professional development.
Collaboration with the Maritime Industry: Build relationships with industry stakeholders to align training with real-world demands and potential student career opportunities.
Administration and Reporting: Manage schedules, record-keeping, and reporting requirements as specified by the DOL, MTC, NMC, and other regulatory bodies as appropriate.
Advisory Role: Act as an advisor to students, helping them understand career pathways, licensure, and industry expectations.
Job Requirements
Valid and current Merchant Mariner Credential.
STCW Certification: Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) endorsement specific to engineering, including advanced safety and firefighting.
Sea Experience: Extensive experience at sea in progressively responsible engineering roles, typically including prior experience as a Chief Engineer.
Knowledge of Maritime Regulations: Familiarity with applicable national and international maritime regulations and standards for training vessels.
Medical Fitness Certificate: Up-to-date medical certificate confirming fitness for duty at sea.
Leadership and Management Training: Certification in maritime leadership or management, as required by STCW.
Teaching or Training Certification: Qualification in training or instructing through a USCG-certified Train the Trainer Course.
First Aid and CPR Certification: Current certification in first aid, CPR, and emergency response specific to maritime standards.

Preferred:

Instructors will also be responsible for the logistics before, during, and after a group stay. Leads activities in team building, environmental classes, evening programming, and field games; facilitates high and low rope courses; inspects equipment throughout use to ensure it meets safety standards

Training:

Summary: Responsible for the management of and on-site supervision of a designated program. This includes but is not limited to program implementation, supervision, and safety of SEASPAR participants, property, equipment, and monies while working community based therapeutic recreation programs.
Position Qualifications:

POSITION SUMMARY

Anatomy & Physiology faculty teach classes that are scheduled during the day or evening, taught in a variety of formats (online asynchronous, on-ground, and virtual synchronous) and terms (15 and 7-weeks) and at several different locations, including off-campus sites and local high schools. JOB SUMMARY: Sycamores is partnering with the 988 mental health crisis hotline to provide support to people experiencing a mental health crisis. The 988 hotline will provide initial phone support to all callers and triage calls to the Sycamores Mobile Crisis Outreach Program for in-person support. The Mobile Crisis Outreach Program will respond out to the community to provide timely support including crisis stabilization, safety planning, assessment for danger to self/others, and gravely disabled write 5150 holds as needed and provide follow up support. The Lead LPT or CADC II / III will provide support and leadership and support to the Mobile Crisis Outreach Program. The Lead LPS (LPT/CADCII/ CADC III) will work in close partnership with the 988-call center, Riverside / Los Angeles County Dispatch Center, police, sheriff, psychiatric hospitals, and ambulance transport companies will be important in this role.
This is a direct service leadership position designed to provide hands-on coaching direction and guidance to other LPS and PSS within the program. In this role, the Lead LPS is responsible for working directly with staff in the implementation of best practices that are consistent with policies and the agency's treatment philosophy. Lead LPS provides administrative and leadership to members of the Mobile Crisis Outreach Program. The Lead LPS will be available for consultation during and following crisis calls as well as to fill in when back up is needed in the field. The Lead LPS Supervisor will mentor, lead identified crisis staff, be on-call, and represent the Mobile Crisis Outreach Program to external stakeholders and community resources. Lead LPS will have the knowledge/skills/abilities to provide leadership, teaching, and training.
Starting Pay Range:
$74,000 - $78,000 per year for Full-Time employment (starting pay will be based on previous work experience and educational background.) There will be an additional $8,320 per year overnight differential.

What you will be doing: You'll be responsible for coordinating and implementing the career preparation period program for new students, in compliance with government and management directives.
Essential functions:
Develop, prepare, and deliver career preparation lessons; use a variety of teaching strategies to meet student learning needs.
Recommend an appropriate training program for each assigned student, using background files, personal interviews, tests, and a variety of other assessment tools.
Conduct pre-arrival contacts with potential enrollees; prepare and mail pre-arrival and safe arrival letters on a timely basis, and coordinate arrival activities with other center departments.
Participate in student employability programs and activities.
