OVERVIEW :
The Parental Defense Services Coordinator will assist attorneys and their clients in navigating the Division of Child and Family Services System, affiliated agencies, and court processes under the attorney's direction and management.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES :

Support Attorney and clients in navigating the parental and child welfare, as well as criminal justice systems.
Attend child and family team meetings.
Maintain contact with clients via email, letter, meeting, meeting with client and service provider, phone call, text, voicemail; and maintain contact with others regarding case, i.e. DCFS/FRC caseworker, court team, client's therapist, client's treatment, and client's family.
Interact with criminal justice agencies, child welfare agencies, treatment agencies, and other agencies providing services to clients in order to promote the client's best interests.
Participate in Family Recovery Court and pre-staffing (FRC).
Attend hearings including dispositional, evidentiary, expedited motion, order to show cause, permanency, pre-trial, review, shelter, adjudication, and termination of parental rights.
Attend mediation.
Review discovery, assessments, court reports, petitions, treatment letters, files, and other documents.
Review service/treatment plans and provide support in preliminary assessment of readiness to change, identify barriers, provide support, and collaborate to facilitate positive changes.
Staffing and consultation with attorneys and staff in office.
ABOUT YOU :
Education: Bachelor's degree in a social services field. Master's preferred.
Licensure: Clinical Social Worker, Certified Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Clinical Mental Health Counselor.
Experience: At least two years of work experience in the social services professions, preferably with Utah State Division of Child and Family Services or Utah courts.
Knowledge: Working knowledge of the juvenile court system, specifically child welfare matters and associated timelines, grammar, spelling, punctuation, legal terminology, modern office practices, working knowledge of court practices and procedures, and grant requirements.
Skills: Operating modern office equipment including (but not limited to) a multi-line telephone, scanner, copy machine, operating computer equipment and applicable case management software.
This position may require the driving of a motor vehicle; skill in operating a motor vehicle in a safe manner; ability to insure motor vehicle is operating in a safe manner; knowledge of Utah motor vehicle rules and regulations.
Abilities: Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react resourcefully under varying conditions, maintain accurate records and strict confidentiality of information and records, follow written and oral instructions, communicate effectively (orally and in writing), establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other employees, other agencies and clients.
YOUR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS :
