North Star Behavioral Health Hospital is the premier behavioral health provider serving Alaska. We offer acute inpatient programming for children and teens at risk of harming themselves or others. These 30-day programs offer 24-hour nursing and evidence-based treatment methods designed to help young patients stabilize and move into less intensive care as quickly as possible.
The Acute Inpatient Program is about encouraging healthy and safe thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, as the youth traverses the trail or journey to wellness. The program provides inpatient acute care for children and teens between the ages of 4 - 18. We are the only program in the entire state of Alaska providing this service to children under the age of 13.
Key Responsibilities:
The Clinical Therapist is a key member of the Northstar Behavioral Health Team who is responsible for providing direct and indirect client care by providing psychotherapeutic services to clients and families. The CT will serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team, supporting the facility's treatment program and philosophy. The CT will also serve as the primary liaison between the family and outside agencies for discharge planning, abuse reporting, and continuum of care functions.
Job Duties/ Responsibilities
Through a collection of interactions with patients and other health care providers, collects and analyzes data regarding the patient's psychosocial history and current environment, and identifies anticipated discharge needs.
Ensures the psychosocial data is comprehensive, completed within a specified timeline; and reflects the medical necessity for treatment; includes an integrated summary with recommendations for treatment and discharge.
Coordinates the development and review of the Master Treatment Plan and Treatment Plan updates, ensuring that input from all treatment team disciplines, referral source(s), and/or parent/guardian (as appropriate) is reflected in the plan.
Ensures that treatment plan goals and interventions effective address acuity, patient management issues, and target behaviors, ensuring the goals and objectives are measurable.
Provides individual therapy patients, ensuring therapy interventions are directly related to treatment plan goals and objectives; meets with patients weekly to assess response to treatment, level of functioning and treatment needs; assists patients in setting appropriate goals; discusses ongoing discharge plan with clients.
Provide group therapy sessions and be able to effectively manage group process to maximize therapeutic benefits to patients; conducts process and specialty groups as assigned.
Establishes rapport and minimizes resistance with families to effectively engage them in family treatment; makes weekly contact with each patient's family and/or guardian in addition to family sessions to discuss progress.
Ensures individual, family, and group therapy documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Communicates patient's progress and readiness for discharge to members of treatment team; ensures initial discharge plans are documented within specified timeline.

Basic Requirement for SocialWorker (Clinical):
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in socialwork from a school accredited by the Council on SocialWork Education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations of behavioral health patients, providing individual or group clinical counseling, and developing behavioral health treatment plans or recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution or education for experience is permitted.
Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice SocialWork independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.

The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Mental Health Worker is responsible for assisting in the provision of routine customer-owner supervision in a treatment or education environment. This position is responsible for the delivery of mental health supportive services and other advocate services to customer-owners.
This position has two (2) levels designed to provide progressively more responsible and independent work experiences. Progression between job levels is based on the demonstrated ability to successfully handle more progressively responsible assignments.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High School diploma; OR GED.
2. At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
3. Must meet the following conditions to qualify as an approved SCF driver:
Valid Alaska driver's license that meets State of Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) license requirements to include:
May drive in Alaska for up to 90 days with a valid out-of-State license, then must obtain an Alaska driver's license.
For Commercial driver licenses, you must obtain an Alaska CDL within 30 days of becoming a resident.
No more than three (3) moving traffic violations (as defined by Alaska Statutes Title 28); OR two (2) at-fault traffic accidents in the previous three (3) years.

This role will provide non-clinical emergent and urgent support to Air Force personnel, their families, or intimate partners who are victims of domestic abuse. The DAVA must be available for flexible hours, including after-hours telework.
The Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate (DAVA) provides Air Force personnel, their family members, or intimate partners who are victims of domestic abuse (DA) non-clinical emergent and urgent service whenever requested.
The DAVA is an essential resource for victims of DA who are active-duty members, spouses of active-duty members, or unmarried intimate partners of active-duty members and provides a private and confidential service to encourage victims in seeking assistance. The DAVA promotes the Air Force's coordinated community response to allegations of DA by providing a range of support and education services to victims during duty hours, as well as on-call emergency services to victims after duty hours. The DAVA does not provide clinical intervention services.
DAVAs are required to work a 40-hour work week; however, it is vital DAVAs be available when requested; on-call services are required. The DAVA performs “ad-hoc” telework when providing victim assistance after-hours that does not require in-person support. DAVAs may be required to perform outside the typical work hours when assisting victims; their schedule shall remain flexible and vary according to the needs of victims and may take place outside normal duty hours.

Offers follow-up DAVA services to each victim:
Empower the victim to advocate for the needs of self and children.
Support the victim in decision-making by exploring options.
Assist the victim with prioritizing actions and establishing short/long-term goals.
Provide information and referral on military and civilian resources.
DAVAs establish a Victim's Safety Plan on a case-by-case basis. Partners with the FATM and FAIS or mental health on-call provider if the treatment or case manager is unavailable, to establish safety plans. The victims' safety is the DAVA's top responsibility and priority. Advises victims of the impact of domestic violence on children and supports victim's efforts to have children assessed and treated, as needed. Accompanies the victim to appointments or court proceedings when requested by the victim.
Collaborates with treatment/case manager to support the victim and promote safety for the victim and children in the home. The DAVA briefs the treatment/case manager prior to the CCS so that the CCS team has the most current information on the victim and children for staffing.
Develop process to keep the team lead and designated POC (e.g., on-call mental health provider, emergency room.) informed of DAVA's location and timelines when providing DAVA victim services. This process will include location, arrival, and departure notification.
Continually evaluate the quality of the installation's coordinated community response and collaborate with base agencies to improve the system response to victims.
Empower victims to be involved in plans or decisions about the safety of self and children.
Collaborate and establish protocols with Security Forces Squadron (SFS) and Office of Special Investigations (OSI) confirming:
