Job Description
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the administrative supervision of the Program Director or designee, this at-will direct service position is responsible for providing psychosocial, rehabilitation, and recovery-oriented services for Turning Point members. This position also involves advocating for members in all areas of treatment and helping them apply for and receive services. Additional support in the areas of medication management, resource connection (e.g., housing resources, AOD, PCP, OP, etc.), counseling, and advocacy will be provided as needed. Involves providing after-hours, “on-call” coverage on a rotational basis based on program needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)

In the absence of the Program Director or designee, provides leadership and direction for clients as assigned.
Advocates for clients in all areas of treatment and helps them apply for and receive services; empowers clients in meeting their goals.
Advocates for and assists clients and their families in accessing and receiving mental health treatment, medical care, housing, food, and clothing as indicated.
Supports individual service plans for each client.
Maintains all client records and completes required documentation and data entry according to program standards, including progress notes, activity reports, and logs etc.
Meets regularly with clients at Turning Point sites or in the field, at job sites, homes, board and care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, and other appropriate sites.
Consults with or meets regularly with the client's family, care provider, or other significant persons with the client's consent.
Coaches clients in developing age-appropriate social skills, money management, personal hygiene, and job readiness.
Assists in establishing the client's eligibility for Medi-Cal or other benefits and advocates for continuation of benefits when appropriate.
Develops financial management plans for clients who receive Representative Payee Services and authorizes appropriate expenditures.
Interacts productively within the team to provide holistic case management services to an identified group of clients.
Provides “on-the-spot” counseling that is both helpful to the clients and consistent with the philosophy of the program.
Drives on program business using personal vehicle for medication outreach, home visits, transporting clients to appointments/activities, community/county meetings/trainings, and MH court.
Attends to the safety, health, and well-being of clients.
Completes paperwork as assigned promptly.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is through graduation from a four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in SocialWork or related field and four 4 years of varied experience as a provider of direct mental health services or meeting other Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from a four (4) year university or college with a bachelor's degree in socialwork, psychology, or related field, and four 4 years of varied experience as a provider of direct mental health services or meeting other Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist qualifications.

The Youth Advocate will assist Native youth in California Tribal TANF Partnership participant families and local partnership Tribes. This position will be responsible for educating youth in substance abuse disorders through workshops and providing preventative information to youth. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Provides information on available programs in all counties in CTTP service areas for treatment and rehabilitation, and assists youth in applying for rehabilitation services.
Conducts outreach programs at CTTP Sites and/or local Partner Tribes to help youth identify the signs of addiction and other destructive behavior, as well as steps to avoid such behavior.
Develops and facilitates drug and alcohol life skills training, pregnancy prevention training, and other training that will assist youth in making healthy life choices.
Maintains youth Participant records in regards to any referrals made on behalf of the youth, makes timely case notes in the TANF Assistant Software, and keeps the Caseworker updated on the progress of the youth participant.
Maintains case management of caseload, making referrals and collateral contacts with multiple community agencies.
Coordinates and interacts with site staff, CTTP coordinators, community agencies, Partner Tribes, the court system, various public entities and various counseling and drug/alcohol treatment providers.
All other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or equivalent.
One year work experience in a related field preferred.
Knowledge of interviewing methods and techniques, social casework principles and methods, and substance abuse assessment instruments.
Ability to identify and assess symptoms relative to assigned treatment program.

Supervise, develop and implement programs;

Work with staff and parents/guardians to recognize members for good work & disciplinary issues that may occur at the Club;
Provide direction for volunteers in order to stimulate participation in programs;
Must provide quality customer service by meeting and greeting the public, parents, members and outside groups who enter the facility. Be prepared to provide guided tours and answer questions.

Attend Board and Committee Meetings as requested;
Attend local trainings and workshops in the field as requested;

1 to 2 years of experience in Recreation, Child Development or equivalent experience in related field a plus;
Knowledge of youth development principles, education programs, expanded learning practices, mentoring, coaching, and positive behavior guidance a plus.
