They must work exceptionally well with students of color, LGBTQ+ students, international students, and other underrepresented students and communities on campus. This position will be part of the Mental Health Access Team (MHAT) at UHS. This team will be responsible for greeting all students who call or walk in seeking mental health care, becoming an integral part of helping the student quickly access professional help. The team will speak with the student to determine their need and then help the student find an appointment with the UHS provider who can best meet their mental health condition. Knowing students may arrive in many states of mental health, our access team will be prepared to be the first point of contact for all students, from those with minimal mental health support needs through those having an acute mental health crisis. Required Qualifications Education: Must maintain enrollment in at least 6 credits at LBCC , maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout each term, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better, and have financial aid in place to be eligible to work in a Work Study student employee capacity at Linn-Benton Community College. Depending on the work-study student's area of interest, the expectation is that students are willing to learn the skills that will be necessary to help them succeed in their position, whether that's exercising basic reporting and writing skills, taking and processing photos, creating art for advertising and promotional materials, posting on social media and The Commuter's website, or other duties as assigned. As a co-curricular group at LBCC , The Commuter functions as a working news operation that complements what students are learning in the classroom, whether they are taking journalism, marketing, art, photography, graphic design or other courses at the college. Participation in work-study positions at The Commuter is not limited to students in journalism, marketing, graphic design, art or other related fields. Work-study students must be able to meet required schedules and timelines, as well as demonstrate good teamwork and communication skills. Prior experience working for a newspaper, magazine, advertising and marketing firm, website or social media operation is not required, though any or all of those skills would be beneficial. Work-study students must possess basic knowledge of computers, which are relied on for preparation and processing of news and marketing content. Knowledge of software programs such as Google Drive, Google Docs, InDesign, Photoshop, Google Sheets would be beneficial though not required upon beginning work at The Commuter. ABILITIES : Requires the ability to perform the duties of the position efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision. Must be able to operate personal computers and relevant software. Must be able to communicate with contacts both inside and outside of the organization in a manner that reflects positively on The Commuter and the college.
