Josephs House is a residential respite care home in NW Washington, DC that serves primarily previously homeless men and women with advanced HIV disease. For most of these residents, some combination of mental illness, stigma, isolation, substance abuse, poverty and/or domestic violence have prevented them from successfully managing their HIV disease.
Once medically stabilized, many Josephs House residents transition to post residential case management. These services can include medication management, housing, counseling, life skills training, advocacy, transportation and community activities.
Job Summary:
The social worker at Josephs House is a member of a multi-disciplinary team including a registered nurse, clinical coordinator, program director, and staff, who provides comprehensive intake, assessment, discharge planning and case management services to all members of the Josephs House Community. The social worker works directly with leadership, staff, residents, community friends, and community partners.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Build rapport and establishing trusting respectful relationships with clients and families
Evaluate prospective, new, and existing clients based on their needs, barriers, and goals
Assess strengths and needs of each community member
Develop an individualized discharge plan for every resident
Obtain identifying documentation (birth certificate, photo id, Medicaid card, social security, etc.) for each community member.
Develop and regularly update a Service Plan for every community member
Address client concerns and goals in real time using effective communication skills with client and nurse case management team
Identify appropriate community-based resources for community members (housing, counseling/treatment, employment) and
advocate for these resources
Collaborate closely with Josephs House team and community partners and resources
Document all service activity provided to community members for funding purposes
Assign volunteers and interns to assist community members in daily activities and ensure that these activities are documented for
funding purposes
Maintain up to date files for each community member

Education and Experience:
Masters degree required, PLUS two years post-Master's experience and attainment of a license.

Job Description
HIAS is seeking a Social Services Intern to support our Social Services team in providing trauma-informed psycho-social support services to asylees and asylum seekers in the DC metropolitan area, with a focus on victims of gender-based violence. The intern will be responsible for assisting with the intake, screening, assessment and triage of clients referred to the Social Services unit, and for assisting in treatment planning and the provision of resources and community referrals to HIAS clients. The position will include opportunities for engagement in clinical services, special projects, program monitoring and evaluation, and program development.
Note, this position is unpaid but may be pursued for academic credit. We ask that applicants be available for approximately 15-20 hours per week, starting in September 2025 and ending in May 2026.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides intake, screening, assessment and triage of clients referred to the HIAS Social Services program.
Assists the Clinical Case Manager by providing direct services to HIAS clients in need of concrete services or community referrals.
Supports the Social Services team by researching, reviewing and updating community resources, and by assisting with the coordination of service provision.

THE JOB AND YOUR ROLE
We are seeking a Bilingual Youth Advocacy Specialist to provide advocacy, crisis intervention, systems navigation, emotional support, and short-term ongoing advocacy services as needed to English and Spanish-speaking youth (ages 13-17) victims and their non-offending family members as desired. Bilingual Youth Advocacy Specialists may be the first point of contact for (Spanish-speaking) victims of sexual assault. The focus of youth advocacy support is to help reduce trauma for youth while informing them of their rights and options. The Bilingual Youth Advocacy Specialist helps youth identify and access necessary services, liaising with other agencies and service providers and supporting them throughout the investigative process as required. Depending on the program and client needs, the client caseload may consist of both English-speaking and Spanish-speaking clients.
This position requires in-person, direct service work. The incumbent must work at least one evening (2 p.m.- 10 p.m.) shift and the after-hours on-call rotation for 24-hour response, including weekends.
In accordance with the Sexual Assault Victims' Rights Amendment Act of 2019, this position will respond to youth in community settings such as hospitals or law enforcement agencies, as well as working from an office setting. This position will require the ability to respond in person and virtually, depending on client needs and preferences. This position is a mandated reporter for child abuse and neglect under District of Columbia Statute §4-1321.02 when not acting within the defined role that provides an exemption to this mandate.

* Assist Veterans in developing treatment plans based on their bio-psychosocial assessment and personal goals.

* Conduct timely assessment of Veterans in crisis to identify immediate needs, evaluate risk, and initiate safety planning as appropriate.
* Incorporate complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment of Veterans, including making psychosocial and psychiatric diagnoses within approved clinical privileges/scope of practice.
* Independently formulate and implement a treatment plan including measurable, achievable goals identifying the Veterans' needs, strengths, challenges, coping skills, and psychosocial acuity.
* Utilize a range of treatment techniques and skills, being sensitive to human growth and development, age appropriate needs, and concerns of Veterans.
* Provide current techniques to the treatment of Veterans as appropriate and indicated.
* Provide Veterans and their family members/caregivers with ongoing supportive counseling to support adaptive coping with severe mental illness(es), chronic/disabling illness(es), onset of a catastrophic illness, etc.
* Provide individual and group evidence-based therapies (e.g., CPT, PE, etc.) to Veterans.
* Provide consultation, education, and advocacy as Veterans and their family members/caregivers navigate a large and complex healthcare system.
* Educate and encourage the Veteran to advocate on their own behalf, thus fostering a sense of independence and empowerment.

* Crisis Intervention: The BHIP social worker is experienced in making rapid assessments and developing crisis management plans for admission to mental health inpatient programs.

Definition
Under direct supervision of the Social Work Lead, the incumbent is responsible for providing a full range of social services to students with varying cognitive, social and behavioral abilities. Duties of this position require weekly meetings with students, individually and in groups, to work on improving social skills, self-esteem, problem solving and personal safety skills. Important aspects of the job include ensuring that all student counseling records are documented accurately and timely, and providing various staff development in-service trainings to school staff. It is important to note that while providing students' with social services, the employee is responsible for the supervision of a student(s) which may require the ability to keep up with a running student and or to lift or assist with lifting the student. This is essential to perform this task. An important aspect of the job is gaining knowledge of and implementing the assigned student's Individual Education Plan goals and objectives as well as ensuring accurate data collection and documentation of such.
In accordance with the federal wage-hour laws, this is a salaried position and is not subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act's (FLSA) minimum wage and overtime pay requirements.

Unique entrepreneurial opportunity for an experienced Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA)

Sunshine Autism Services, Inc. is a new startup autism center. In addition to ABA therapy, we plan to provide other services required by autistic clients such as speech and occupational therapies. Our goal is to serve children up to 10 years of age both in-center, in-home, and in community centers.
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced BCBA who is interested in starting a new autism center as a co-founder and is capable of running the clinical side of the business. The compensation for this position not only includes excellent salary and benefits, but also significant equity in the company.
If we decide to work together, you should be willing to go through the process of being credentialed with insurance carriers prior to starting in this position full-time. We anticipate the credentialing process to take around six to nine months. As you wait for the credentialing process to complete, you should be willing to work with us part-time as a paid consultant to develop the ABA curriculum and implement the practice management software. After being successfully credentialed with one or more insurance carriers, you can start working at the center full-time.
In addition to this position, we anticipate RBTs and administrative staff to work at this center. The administrative staff, who include an operations manager and an administrative assistant, will be responsible for business operations such as sessions scheduling, billing, payroll, and reporting.

Position Summary: Rocketship School Psychology Interns are responsible for providing both direct and indirect support to students, families, and staff members in order to ensure high quality programming for students with disabilities.
Based in Washington, DC and reporting to the Associate Director, School Psychology, the School Psychologist Intern, will play a critical role in ensuring we are meeting our Child Find obligation. At Rocketship Public Schools, our psychs and psych interns serve a small number of elementary schools. A typical day includes attending pre-referral meetings, initial/triennial assessment, behavior consultation, direct and indirect support of students receiving social emotional intervention, and supporting school leaders in implementing MTSS systems. Our schools utilize a meaningful inclusion model for special education, so an integral part of the day-to-day work is supporting teams in creating plans that allow all students, regardless of disability, to spend the majority of their day in the general education classroom.
Essential Functions:
Duties will include, but not be limited to:
Lead psycho-educational and formal behavior assessments; write quality, compliant assessment reports.
Attend IEP meetings; present assessment findings to the team.
Assist in the implementation of assessment recommendations as needed.
Participate in the pre-referral process and provide consultation to school teams regarding intervention supports for struggling students.
Work with parents to build knowledge of disability and inclusive support for students with disabilities.
Assist in providing consultation and advice to administrators, teachers, and parents regarding the general and special educational programs as appropriate.
Assist in coordinating, communicating and seeking consultation with community agencies as appropriate.
Maintain a compliant practice.
Participate in frequent, direct and indirect, supervision with Rocketship's Manager of Psychological Services as well as other members of the school psych team
Some campuses may require consultation, collaboration, creation, and implementation of 504 plans

Qualifications:
Enrollment in a Masters and Credentialing Program for School Psychology (NASP highly preferred)
Bilingual, Spanish (preferred)

Family Support Worker, Healthy Start

The Healthy Start Family Support Worker (FSW) works to build and maintain solid relationships with Healthy Start families in the community and serve as a liaison between health/social services and the individuals and families who they serve. Healthy Start participants are mainly but not exclusively pregnant and postpartum individuals and their infants up to 18 months, in specific wards of the District of Columbia.
The FSW provides regular virtual and in-home visits to participants and their families while sharing perinatal health education, support, and promotion of healthy behaviors. The Healthy Start FSW is part of a team equipped to conduct health and social screenings, education, and support. Some daily activities include the following: facilitating access to health and community services, accompanying participants to appointments, tracking, and promoting medical visits, strengthening parent-child interaction, and encouraging partner/father involvement.

Supports partner/father role in the family unit with involvement in perinatal- and infant-related activities.
Connects participants to services, such as Centering Pregnancy prenatal care, doulas, behavior health support, domestic violence advocate, or medication-assisted treatment.
Build Relationships:
Maintains regular and open communication with the participant, using trauma-informed strategies to build trust and rapport with families.
Conducts outreach to referred families to enroll them in the program. Respects and integrates the participant's values and culture into support plan that reflects their agenda and background.

Documents all participant encounters in Mary's Center EMR and grant-specific data bases within required timeframe, completely and accurately.
