Summary/Objective The Water Service Worker plays a central role in replacement of meter transmission units (MTUs) on water meters around the community. MTU replacement also will provide an opportunity to view and visually inspect meters, meter pits, and water line connections. Performs meter reading duties as needed or required. Essential Functions Reads meters and replaces MTUs on water meters. Reads water meters and accurately records information in a timely manner to support the City's water utility billing services. Mitigates inconvenience to customers by minimizing time a water connection is out of service and appropriately notifies customer of shut off and approximate interruption duration. Provides customer service including turning water service on or off, including reaching into hard-to-reach areas where meters may be located, investigating possible leaks, ascertaining accurate information when discrepancies exist, and other related activities. Removes, replaces, and enters meter reading data on handheld microprocessor. Programs a newly installed MTU with handheld computer while accurately recording unit number, location, and other installation data. We are a 2A district with our Elementary/Junior High and High School both centrally located at the same site between the towns of Eskridge, Dover, and Harveyville. In August 2022 the district patrons voted to pass a $12 million bond to upgrade the current facilities. This project included a secure entrance at the 7-12 entrance, 7-12 office renovation, renovated science classrooms, renovated Vocational Agriculture Education building, new Career Technical Education center, new softball & baseball field complex, new all-weather track, new artificial turf football field, and other upgrades to current infrastructure.
