This position is in person at a school affiliated with Eglin Air Force Base. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate to become local and be licensed at the independent level as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC/LPC), Therapist (LMFT), or SocialWorker (LCSW).
This position has the primary responsibility of providing the full breadth of Child and Youth Behavioral (CYB) counseling services to children of all ages of military service members and their families at military installations and off military installations. These services may include non-medical counseling, training/ health and wellness presentations, consultation with parents, personnel, schools, and consultation to installation command regarding behavioral health issues affecting children and youth. CYB School counselors will be assigned to Department of Defense (DoDEA) schools and community schools and will need to have experience working in a school setting to qualify for a school position. CYB School counselors will also be assigned to youth programs, summer camps, and on demand assignments. The counselors work closely with the installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to assure that the program is provided within scope and meets the needs of the installation and the schools.
Provides non-medical, short-term, solution focused, counseling directly to eligible children and youth of service members at assigned primary and secondary locations. Services include assessment, brief counseling and consultation, action planning, referral to resources (assuring linkage as appropriate), and follow-up as indicated.
CYB counselors will also have a focus on supporting the staff and personnel of DoDEA , community schools, summer camps (if available/assigned) as well as providing parent training and guidance.
Provides training and health and wellness presentations, participates in health fairs and other base/installation activities focused on children and youth.
Enters counselor activity data daily through smart phone, or web application, to assure that reporting is accurate from assigned installation while maintaining confidentiality and anonymity of service/family member.
Establishes and maintains working relationships with community resources focused on children and youth and provides appropriate linkages. Consistently visible within the school which allows MFLC services to be accessible when working with children, the counselor must abide by line of sight protocol (another adult with responsibility for the child must be able to see the counselor and child they are working with at all times).
Partners with POC to provide CYB services in a manner that addresses the needs of the installation/facility. Develops an effective and professional working relationship with the installation/facility POC.
Manages duty to warn and restricted reporting situations according to DoD protocol and staffs the cases with Regional Supervisor/Regional Director.
Communicates with Regional Supervisor and participates in regular individual and group supervision, sharing information regarding trends and issues on the installations and in facilities to which they are assigned. Responds to critical incidents and special requests as directed by the POC and approved by the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) program manager. The CYB will flex schedule to respond to urgent requests as needed or at the request of the Regional Supervisor/Regional Director.
Participates in regular in-services/training, Quality Improvement committees, initiatives, studies, pilot programs other contract activities as assigned/appropriate as directed by the customer and/or Magellan. This includes participation in pilot program certification and training processes, completion of activity documentation, integration of pilot activities in non-medical counseling work, and the utilization of applicable technology to complete required activities.

IVA'AL Solutions, LLC provides support to the Air Force (AF) Family Advocacy Program (FAP) and is responsible for staffing qualified Licensed Clinical SocialWorkers, Licensed Registered Nurses, Certified Victim Advocates, and Program Assistants at U.S. AF Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) across the country. The AF FAP is a Department of Defense, (DoD) funded program whose purpose is to both prevent and respond to intimate partner abuse, child abuse, and problematic sexual behavior with children and youth.
Job Description:
The Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate (DAVA) provides AF personnel, their family members, or intimate partners who are victims of intimate partner abuse non-clinical emergent and urgent service whenever requested. With the exception of mandatory state, federal, and military reporting requirements (i.e., domestic violence, child abuse, and duty to warn situations) the DAVA provides a private and confidential service to encourage victims in seeking assistance.
Essential Functions:
Provides 24/7 response to victims alleging abuse (these services are provided based on the needs of client via telephone or in-person).
Establish a Victim's Safety Plan on a case-by-case basis. The victims' safety is the DAVA's top responsibility and priority. The DAVA will review the Safety Plan during each victim contact.
Conduct initial and ongoing risk assessments. If imminent risk of serious harm or death is established, notify the social work supervisor, law enforcement, and Command. If children are involved, the process also includes child physical safety and emotional well-being; refer involved children to the socialworker for follow-on care.
Immediately report any changes in the victim's circumstances that changes or impacts the safety plan to the supervisor and/or socialworker or mental health provider in charge.
Advise victims of the military or civil actions available to promote safety (e.g., military order of protection, restraining order, and injunction).
Offer victims information regarding their identified needs (e.g., emergency shelter, housing, childcare, legal services, clinical resources, medical services, transitional compensation).
Accompany clients to appointments or court proceedings when requested by the client.
Assistance with transportation is typically not provided to clients, however, after consultation with the social work supervisor and when no other reasonable means exist the DAVA may transport the victim to important appointments (i.e.: medical, court, protective actions). The DAVA cannot transport minor children unless accompanied by the parent or legal guardian and has the appropriate safety restraints in the vehicle.
Establish a contact file for each victim served that contains minimal information about the allegations or nature of the incident. The primary purpose of the DAVA contact file is to maintain victim's name and contact information as well as a log of the victim contacts and nature of the contacts or service provided by the DAVA.
Develop process to keep the social work supervisor and designated POC (e.g. on-call mental health provider, emergency room.) informed of DAVA's location and timelines when providing DAVA victim services. This process will include location, arrival, and departure notification.
Continually evaluate the quality of the installation's coordinated community response and collaborate with base agencies to improve the system response to victims.
Empower victims to be involved in plans or decisions about the safety of self and children.
Collaborate and establish protocols with Security Forces Squadron (SFS), Office of Special Investigations (OSI), and Military Medical Treatment Facilities confirming.
At the discretion of the Social Work Supervisor, the DAVA may also provide emotional support and information and referral services to the non-offending caregiver in a child maltreatment or youth sexual assault case.
Required Education and Experience/Qualifications:
Must possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited University in any of the following disciplines: Social Work; Psychology; Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling; Counseling or Behavioral Science; Criminal Justice, or related field.
Must possess 2 years of experience assisting and providing advocacy services to victims of domestic violence/abuse or sexual assault.
Must obtain the Basic Advocate Credential with designation of Comprehensive Intervention Specialist as approved and offered by the National Advocate Credentialing Program, which is overseen by the National Organization for Victims Assistance.
Must pass a criminal history/Security Clearance background check.
Must have transportation and a valid drivers' license.
Health Requirements:
All DAVA personnel working within an MTF must maintain current certification in either the American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS) (Course C) or the American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/BLS (Heart Saver) Course.
Before starting work, DAVA personnel working with MTFs shall provide proof of immunization from the following diseases according to CDC guidelines: Hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and influenza, and proof of a negative TB skin test (completed within the past 12 months (if positive, proof of negative chest X-ray within the past 12 months) prior to start of work).
Technical Skills:
Must be computer-proficient to work autonomously using Microsoft Office and possess data entry skills needed to create and maintain client files. Specifically, DAVAs must utilize Family Advocacy Program Network computer software to document client visits and safety plans in compliance with AF FAP policies and accepted professional practice guidelines.
Work Environment:
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Travel may be required as needed and is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected and will comply with Joint Travel Regulation (JTR).
Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. General hours of work are 7:30am-4:30pm when the AF Clinic is open; however, the DAVA is required to remain on call after normal duty hours if/when a victim of family maltreatment/intimate partner sexual assault is in need of assistance. After normal duty hours, if requested, the DAVA is required to respond telephonically or in-person (with AF Social Work Leadership permission) to the hospital or law enforcement agency. Hours worked after normal duty hours will be accounted for in the form of "flexing hours" or "overtime" pay in accordance with govt policy and labor laws.

+ Minimum of one year of experience as a socialworker in a health care setting, home health, and/or hospice.

Work Schedule:

Job Specific Position Duties: The duties include, but are not limited to the following:
•Coordinate appropriate referrals to community and other Government agencies forservices.
•Independently assess the psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and theirfamily members and formulate and implement a treatment plan, identifying the collaboration with the patient, family and interdisciplinary treatment team.
•Independently conduct psychosocial assessments and provide psychosocial treatmentto a wide variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, ethnic,educational and other diverse backgrounds.
•Use medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities and treatment procedures. Thisincludes acute, chronic and traumatic illnesses/injuries, common medications andtheir effects/side effects, and medical terminology.
•Implement treatment modalities in working with individuals, families and groups whoare experiencing a variety of psychiatric, medical and social problems to achievetreatment goals.
•Independently provide counseling and/or psychotherapy services to individuals,groups, couples, and families. Must practice within the bounds of the license orcertification.
•Provide consultation services to other staff about the psychosocial needs of patientsand the impact of psychosocial problems on health care and compliance withtreatment.
•Participate in professional peer review case conferences, research studies, or otherorganizations required at the MTF.
•Consult with medical personnel, legal authorities, military commanders and schooldistricts, as required.
•Maintain accurate and current notes in both the Mental Health records and patientmedical records of all patients seen, as appropriate, and produce reports of evaluationand/or treatment, as required.
•Participates in military specific training (e.g., pre-post deployment screening, PTSD,and combat stress, etc.).
•Shall direct supporting Government employees assigned to them during theperformance of clinical duties. Guides the performance of assigned personnel. Usesteam approach toward staff and patient management.
•Shall perform administrative duties that may include maintaining statistical records ofhis or her clinical workload, participating in medical educations programs, andparticipating in quality improvement functions and other duties as prescribed by the Flight Commander.
•May be asked to participate/direct committees, programs or clinical services directly related to area of clinical responsibility or privileges.•Shall attend and participate in meetings, professional staff conferences, and other appropriate professional activities such as, but not limited to the following: quality improvement meetings, professional staff meetings, commander's staff meetings, flight meetings, and other meetings required by applicable regulations, MTF guidance, or as directed by the flight Commander or his/her designated representative.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
* Education: Master's degree in Social Work (MSW). Graduate from a School of Social Work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
* Experience: Must have at least 2 years of experience, in the last 5 years; prior experience workng with the DOD or VA highly desired.
* License: Active, unrestricted license to practice as a Clinical SocialWorker from any state.
* Life Support Certification: Possess a current AHA or ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
Note: May obtain BLS upon acceptance, prior to start date.
* Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
