Purpose:
Implementation of the agency treatment philosophy on the living unit.
Effectively develop and implement programs and services that accomplish the treatment objectives for each resident on the unit.

Qualifications:
Foster parents will be screened prior to the placement of a child using standardized assessment methods that meet legal requirements for home studies of foster placements.
Foster Parents will have a medical examination, including a skin tuberculin test, prior to placement of children in the home and each time that their license is renewed, unless special health circumstances warrant more frequent examinations.
Foster Parents will have the experience, personal characteristics, and temperament to work with children and their biological families, and they must be able to provide care, protection, and experiences that enhance healthy child development.
Ability to teach youth care theory and practice to employees who work directly with children.
Knowledge of and experience with group process and group dynamics.
Ability to provide leadership and direction to subordinates.
Ability to motivate and work cooperatively with other professionals and employees of the Agency.
Ability to effectively interact with sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences in the client population.

Provide direct therapeutic services to children.

How You Will Make an Impact
Conduct program screenings and intake assessments and provide direct case management services to program participants in individual and group settings, both office-based and community-based.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide support to the Family Development Specialist in completing the inquiry and home study process.
Assist team members in delivering direct service and supports for children, youth, and families.
The Specialist intern works directly with the Specialist and their assigned families who have begun the licensure process
Help with record-keeping, scheduling, and documentation aligned with LSS's mission and values.
Support the team in promoting the organization's values of compassion, respect, and strategic care.
Gain hands-on experience in a dynamic human-services environment, either full-time or part-time.
They will assist in managing required paperwork through the inquiry and licensure process, completing background checks, and completing portions of the family home study under supervision. This role requires excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as a strong commitment to helping others
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED, is required.
Pursing a Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in social work or related field, is required.
Must be at least 21 years of age.?
Must successfully complete all agency background checks, is required.
Requires active auto-insurance, a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one with approved driver status.

Job Summary
Coordinates, plans and delivers the best psychotherapeutic approach for each patient. Provides clinical (only) supervision for day-to-day implementation of therapeutic strategies or milieu programming that carries out the treatment plan for each patient by a variety of staff including psychiatric technicians, LPNs, RNs, mental health counselors and discharge planners across the Center's continuum of care. Job Description
Essential Functions:
Provides individual, marital, family and group therapy within the scope of the inpatient unit
Develops and implements an individualized treatment approach. Communicates with family to further the effectiveness of treatment plan.
Collaborates with patient/family, multidisciplinary team, and physician to formulate a realistic plan that identifies goals, specific interventions, and resources to meet the patient's needs.
Assesses patient's progress and modifies treatment plan accordingly.
Develops and maintains positive partnerships with providers of mental health and social services in the community as appropriate to the needs and requirements of the patient on an ongoing basis.
Maintains good communication and collaborative relationships with referring providers and other staff. Recommends additional referrals for patient as needed.
Functions as a positive resource, communication coordinator, and role model for departmental staff. Maintains accessibility and visibility within the department.
Assists patients to maintain their sense of competence, identity and autonomy.
Demonstrates effective collaboration with community/regional services and hospital personnel while maintaining patient and family rights.
Assists in discharge plan development, giving direction to discharge planner as needed.
Completes discharge planning note/assessment within predetermined guidelines. Upon completion of assessment, recommendations are integrated into the treatment plan 95% of the time.
All other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements
Required:
Education - Masters degree in Counseling
Certifications - Licensed Professional Counselor License - South Dakota Department of Social Services Certifications/Licensures
Experience - 3+ years healthcare experience
