Society for Technical Communication company history timeline
In 1954, shortly after the founding of the national organization, a group of engineers who wrote instructions, reports and proposals for local aircraft companies banded together to form the Technical Publishing Society.
The merger produced the Society of Technical Writers and Publishers (STWP). In 1971, the organization's name was changed to the Society for Technical Communication.
In 1971, the organization changed its name to the Society for Technical Communication.
In 2010, the Society began a year-long project to transform the organization and to prepare for the next fifty years of growth for the profession.
